GIGABYTE is rolling out a fresh wave of Z890 motherboards built to match Intel’s latest Arrow Lake “Refresh” processors, and the company is putting performance front and center with new one-click tuning and memory-focused enhancements. After teasing several boards earlier this year, GIGABYTE has now officially introduced its Z890 PLUS lineup, adding more models and new features designed to squeeze extra speed out of Core Ultra 200S Plus CPUs and next-gen DDR5 configurations.
The new GIGABYTE Z890 PLUS series is being released across four families: Elite, EAGLE, FORCE, and Duo X. While each line targets a slightly different type of PC builder, Duo X stands out as the newest addition, created specifically to improve memory flexibility and performance. Duo X introduces a technology called D5 Duo X, designed around a 2-DIMM approach that aims to increase usable memory capacity without sacrificing memory frequency or system stability—an increasingly important goal for creators, power users, and gamers who want both high RAM and high speeds.
A major focus here is support for CQDIMM memory, a newer DDR5 memory format that enables very large-capacity kits while still chasing higher data rates. GIGABYTE has previously shown CQDIMM reaching 6400 MT/s with a 256GB DDR5 kit, highlighting the kind of capacity and speed combination that used to be difficult to achieve together on mainstream platforms.
GIGABYTE also says its Duo X boards are engineered to maintain high memory frequencies even on boards with 4 memory slots, and the company has worked with memory brands such as ADATA, TeamGroup, and V-Color to improve compatibility with CQDIMM kits. For buyers, that collaboration is meant to translate into fewer headaches when choosing high-end RAM configurations and pushing them to their rated speeds.
On the CPU side, the attention-grabber is an “exclusive” feature called Ultra Turbo Mode. According to GIGABYTE, this mode can deliver up to a 40% performance uplift with a single click, offering three selectable profiles depending on how aggressive you want the tuning to be:
– LV1 Intel 200S Boost
– LV2 Intel Turbo Mode
– LV3 Extreme Mode
GIGABYTE notes that its advertised performance gain was observed in Hitman 3 with APO enabled, using a Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and DDR5 memory running at 10266 MT/s. As always with performance claims, results can vary depending on the game or application, cooling, CPU sample, and your full system configuration—but the intent is clear: these boards are built to make quick, guided tuning easier for enthusiasts who don’t want to manually adjust everything in the BIOS.
To help support higher performance under load, the Z890 PLUS boards can be equipped with up to a Digital Twin 16+1+2 phase VRM design, which GIGABYTE says is intended to maintain stability while keeping thermals in check during sustained workloads.
The company is also continuing its EZ-DIY approach to simplify the building process, and modern connectivity is part of the package. Expect current-gen features like WiFi 7 and 5G LAN across the lineup, positioning these boards for fast wireless networking and high-speed wired setups.
Two models are already listed on GIGABYTE’s website: the Z890 AORUS ELITE WiFi7 PLUS and the Z890 EAGLE WiFi7 PLUS. Additional Z890 PLUS motherboards in the Elite, EAGLE, FORCE, and Duo X families are expected to follow soon.
