Excitement is building as developer miHoYo prepares to release the next Genshin Impact update, Version 5.1, named “The Rainbow Destined to Burn.” Dropping on October 9th across all platforms, this update promises a wealth of new story content, a fresh character, and much more.
In this update, the adventure continues in the newly unveiled region of Natlan. Players will be introduced to Xilonen, a master forger and a reliable ally, both in combat and exploration. Meanwhile, the region of Sumeru sets the stage for the joyous Sabzeruz Festival, where Nahida’s birthday promises a special celebration.
The storyline heats up as players dive into the urgent mission of saving Natlan from the encroaching threat of the Abyss. Teaming up with Xilonen, players will forge an Ancient Name for the Traveler. Along the journey, they’ll meet Citlali, a member of the Masters of the Night-Wind, while another tribe member, Ororon, hatches a secret plan. For their heroics, players can earn up to 900 Primogems by completing new Archon and World Quests, and by progressing in Natlan Exploration.
Meet Xilonen, who is not just famed for her legendary forging skills but also for her combat prowess. This five-star Geo Sword wielder can perform agile moves and skate along cliffs, providing versatile support in battles by reducing enemies’ Elemental RES or healing teammates. Xilonen’s unique combat equipment, the Samplers, instantly record and activate Geo Source Samples, enhancing her attacks and supporting her team, especially in combination with Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro characters. Players will find her abilities switching from dealing damage to healing efficiently, making her a valuable addition to any team.
The Version 5.1 Event Wishes will spotlight Xilonen and feature reruns of beloved characters such as Chiori, Nahida, and Hu Tao. Additionally, Natlan will introduce a formidable new enemy boss, the “Secret Source Constructor,” challenging players in a long-forgotten cave.
Over in Sumeru, the Sabzeruz Festival brings the streets to life with music and festivities, celebrating the birthday of Lesser Lord Kusanali. Players will join Dehya, Tighnari, and Collei to prepare a touching birthday surprise for Nahida. Various mini-games await, including “Rocking Carriage,” “Interreflection of Reality and Dreams,” and a combat challenge as the Knight of Flowers. By participating, players can earn Festive Fervor and win rewards, including a chance to recruit Candace for free.
Version 5.1 also enhances the game’s ease of play with several quality-of-life improvements. The Spiral Abyss now features a skip option, allowing players who reached full stars on certain floors in the previous update to bypass lower floors. Character ascension is more straightforward with updated inventory displays, and crafting is simplified with new filtering options at the Crafting Bench. Artifact management also gets a boost, with saved preferences for filters and sorting. Moreover, new Envisaged Echoes challenges offer players the opportunity to obtain Echoes for Zhongli and Keqing.
