Genki Reveals CES 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Mockup Inspired by Leaks

Genki, a prominent gaming accessory manufacturer from the United States, recently grabbed attention with its unveiling of a Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025. This display was initially touted as being based on the actual next-gen handheld console. Genki confidently claimed insider knowledge of the device, but they’ve since retracted those statements.

In a conversation with the Japanese gaming platform Game*Spark on January 10, a Genki representative acknowledged that no one at the company had actually seen Nintendo’s upcoming console. Instead, their mockup and the details they shared at CES 2025 were derived from circulating industry leaks.

This backtrack coincided with Nintendo’s clarification to CNET Japan that they had not provided Genki with any privileged access to their new gaming system. Notably, Genki isn’t the only accessory producer riding the wave of speculation; recent weeks have seen an influx of leaked details concerning the Switch 2 from various sources making similar assertions.

Despite Genki’s initial overstatement, this doesn’t necessarily mean their CES 2025 mockup is wholly inaccurate. The mockup was inspired by prevalent leaks, and some of its features align with earlier reports. For example, the mockup includes a mysterious “C” button and displays a U-shaped kickstand—both elements tied to ongoing rumors. Yet, without official confirmation, accuracy remains uncertain.

What’s beyond doubt is that the much-anticipated Switch 2 is on the horizon, with an official announcement expected from Nintendo by March 2025. Enthusiastic fans eagerly await more concrete details about the gaming giant’s next big move in the console market.
