GeForce RTX 5090 Outshined in Performance Showdown

The RTX PRO 6000 has emerged as the fastest gaming graphics card, surpassing the RTX 5090 convincingly. While the RTX 5090 was touted as NVIDIA’s top gaming GPU, the latest workstation GPU has taken the crown with notably superior performance.

Harnessing the power of the GB202 die and Blackwell architecture, the RTX PRO 6000 is an enhanced version of the RTX 5090. With 24,064 CUDA cores—about 10% more than the RTX 5090—this powerhouse unleashes the full potential of the GB202, featuring more RT cores, tensor cores, and ROPs.

Impressive benchmark results validate its superiority. In tests conducted by Der8auer, the RTX PRO 6000 outperformed the RTX 5090 by over 10%. For example, in the 3DMark Time Spy Extreme GT1, it achieved 176.5 FPS compared to the 5090’s 156.1 FPS, a solid 13% improvement. The 3DMark Speedway also showed the PRO 6000 leading by around 8%.

One notable aspect is its power efficiency. During the Time Spy test, it maintained an 11% power advantage, dropping to just 1% in the Speedway. Remarkably, the RTX PRO 6000 was 13% faster than the RTX 5090 at the same power level in Extreme GT1, though it achieved slightly higher FPS while consuming a bit more power.

This behavior varied across benchmarks. In some instances, it used more power for its performance boost, whereas in others, it delivered greater results with just 5% more power than the RTX 5090. For example, in Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K, it was 14% faster with 15% higher power consumption. Similarly, in Star Wars Outlaws, but in Remnant 2, it consumed only 5% more power and provided an 11% increase in average FPS and a 17% higher 1% Min FPS.

Overall, the RTX PRO 6000 now reigns as the top performer, but with a hefty $10,000 price tag—making it five times more expensive than the RTX 5090. With 96 GB of GDDR7 VRAM, it’s designed for professional workloads rather than pure gaming, making its steep price more justifiable for industry professionals.
