Gears of War: E-Day Opens Pre-Orders as August Multiplayer Action Gets Dated

Gears of War: E-Day Pre-Orders Open Ahead of August Multiplayer Beta

Xbox Game Studios and The Coalition have officially opened pre-orders for Gears of War: E-Day, giving fans a clearer look at the game’s editions, bonuses, pricing, and early access plans. The highly anticipated entry is set to launch worldwide on October 6, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, but players will be able to jump into the action much earlier through a multiplayer open beta in August.

Gears of War: E-Day takes the franchise back to its most important and terrifying moment: the start of the Locust invasion. Set fourteen years before the events of the original Gears of War, the prequel follows younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as they face the first devastating wave of the underground enemy that would reshape humanity’s future.

Instead of continuing the story forward, The Coalition is returning to the roots of the series, focusing on fear, desperation, brotherhood, and brutal survival. For longtime fans, E-Day promises a closer look at the trauma and chaos that defined Marcus and Dom before they became the hardened soldiers players know from the original trilogy.

The multiplayer open beta will run from August 6 to August 10, 2026. Players who pre-order any edition of Gears of War: E-Day will receive access, while active Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also be eligible to participate. This gives fans a chance to test the game’s online combat before launch and experience how the latest entry modernizes the franchise’s signature cover-based action.

Pre-ordering the game also unlocks several digital bonuses. All editions include the Exfil Dom Legendary Character Skin, which can be used in Versus and the new Horde Siege co-op mode. Players will also receive the Exfil Legendary Weapon Skin Set, giving their loadout a matching cosmetic style.

Digital pre-orders will have these rewards connected automatically to the buyer’s account. Those who purchase a physical copy from participating retailers should receive a code to redeem the beta access and bonus content.

Xbox has confirmed three editions for Gears of War: E-Day.

The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99 and includes the base game along with the standard pre-order bonuses.

The Premium Edition includes additional digital content, such as the Emergence Customization Pack, four seasonal cosmetic drops, 1,000 Iron, and a campaign-only weapon pack. One of its biggest advantages is five days of early access to the full campaign, allowing players to begin on October 1, 2026, instead of waiting until the global release date.

The Collector’s Edition is aimed at dedicated fans and comes with a large physical bundle. Priced at $299.99, it includes a 15-inch illuminated statue of Marcus and Dom, a 1:1 scale metal replica of Carlos Santiago’s COG tags, an art print, and a custom SteelBook case. Like the Premium Edition, it also includes five days of early campaign access.

Built using Unreal Engine 5, Gears of War: E-Day is expected to deliver a darker and more cinematic experience while pushing the series’ visual presentation forward. The game is designed to bring back the survival-horror atmosphere that helped define the earliest entries, combining intense close-quarters combat, improved cover mechanics, and the overwhelming threat of the Locust Horde.

The return to Emergence Day could be one of the most emotional and intense stories the franchise has told. By placing players at the beginning of the war, Gears of War: E-Day has the opportunity to show the fear and confusion of humanity’s first encounter with the Locust, while also deepening the relationship between Marcus and Dom.

With pre-orders now live, the August multiplayer beta will be the first major test for the game’s online systems and combat feel. For fans eager to return to the battlefield, Gears of War: E-Day is shaping up to be one of the biggest Xbox releases of 2026.
