Garmin’s Latest Smartwatch Update Supercharges Your Course Planning Experience

Garmin is rolling out a new smartwatch software update, version 16.37, for five popular models: Venu 4, Venu X1, vivoactive 6, Forerunner 570, and Forerunner 970. This stable release lands soon after the beta and carries the same set of changes, focusing on smoother performance, better reliability, and a few helpful fixes owners will notice in everyday use.

One of the biggest highlights in Garmin software version 16.37 is an improvement to the Course Planner tool on the Forerunner lineup. If you regularly build routes for running or cycling, this update is designed to make the experience feel more responsive and dependable when creating and managing courses.

Garmin also notes that translations have been updated across these wearables. While the company hasn’t specified which languages were adjusted, these kinds of changes typically improve wording clarity and consistency throughout menus, prompts, and activity screens—especially useful for users who rely on localized interfaces.

Beyond performance tuning, the update includes three bug fixes aimed at preventing frustrating interruptions. Two of the fixes address crash issues: one that could happen when the watch is connected to headphones, and another that could occur during a HIIT workout. The third fix targets the Goal Alert feature. Previously, some users were only seeing a single goal alert per day; with version 16.37, Garmin has resolved that limitation so alerts behave as intended.

The Garmin 16.37 update is now available for Venu 4, Venu X1, vivoactive 6, Forerunner 570, and Forerunner 970 users. It should install automatically the next time your watch syncs with the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express. If you prefer to check manually, open the watch menu and navigate to Menu > System > Software Update > Check For Updates.
