Indie developer Alloy Mushroom has locked in the release date for Super Alloy Crush, a Mega Man X-inspired 2D action roguelike brawler built around fast side-scrolling combat, hard-hitting combos, and repeatable runs that reward experimentation. The game arrives in early access for Windows PC on April 8, launching with a 10% discount.
Set in the Super Alloy universe, the adventure begins aboard the Ranger, a spaceship carrying a crew obsessed with one goal: discovering the ultimate cosmic treasure planet, AE-38. The journey won’t be peaceful for long, though. Rivals and dangers stand in the way, and it’s up to the game’s two featured fighters—Cosmic Hunters Muu (Unit-02) and Kelly—to clear a path the only way they know how.
Super Alloy Crush blends side-scrolling action with roguelike structure, meaning every run can feel different depending on how you build your character. Combat leans into impact and momentum, encouraging players to coordinate explosive combo chains and unleash Overdrive Burst attacks to overwhelm powerful enemies. You can play solo or team up in co-op, making it easy to lean into flashy teamwork or take on the chaos alone.
There are three main modes designed to keep the action flowing while offering different ways to play. Story Mode focuses on exploring the treasure planet while gradually unlocking character details and mysteries. Battle Rush Mode is built for replayability, with each run starting fresh and offering a huge range of enhancements so you can craft new “power routes” every time. For players who want the toughest fights, Ultimate Challenge is positioned as the skill test—an endurance-style gauntlet meant to prove mastery of the combat system.
At the core are two distinct playable characters with different strengths and skill demands. Muu is a close-range robot brawler who fights with energy claws and agile movement, launching enemies into the air and chasing them with relentless combo pressure for big damage. Kelly is an enhanced human who mixes firearms with tactical martial combat, designed as a high-skill character who can control space and manage encounters with precision.
Customization is a major focus, with deep build variety aimed at keeping runs fresh. Each character features more than 50 combat Tech Arts and can be shaped further with hundreds of Chips, letting you define unique playstyles and experiment with different setups. The Chip system supports flexible loadouts that can change how you move, survive, and sustain offense, including options like multi-air-jump, infinite energy, and multiple HP layers. A support system also adds breathing room during intense encounters, letting you revive using portable recovery ship checkpoints and lean on support allies when a fight starts turning against you.
Combat strategy goes beyond raw damage thanks to element-based weaknesses and environmental play. Machines are vulnerable to electricity, while biological enemies fear fire, encouraging you to adapt your approach depending on what you’re fighting. You can also use objects in the environment to gain an edge, reinforcing the game’s emphasis on aggressive, tactical action rather than mindless button-mashing.
Boss fights are designed to feel like true showdowns. These enemies can match your power, build energy, and unleash their own Overdrive Burst attacks. Winning means learning patterns, striking at the right moments, and breaking a boss’s Stance by capitalizing on openings to interrupt their offense and seize control of the battle.
With dozens of enemy types, a wide range of boss encounters, collectible support allies, and Battle Rush Mode offering hundreds of upgrades for escalating destructive builds, Super Alloy Crush is clearly aiming to be the kind of action roguelike you can return to repeatedly. Whether you’re chasing stronger runs, experimenting with new Tech Arts and Chip combinations, or teaming up for co-op combo chains, the game is built to deliver fast-paced, replayable 2D action every time you jump in.
