In a delightful twist, Pocketpair, the creative minds behind the game Palworld, have decided to grant their employees an unexpected holiday. The timing, however, is no coincidence; it aligns perfectly with the much-anticipated release of Monster Hunter Wilds. The Japanese game developer humorously noted that several of their employees reported that they “might be feeling unwell” on the very day of the game’s launch. Rather than forcing anyone to call in sick, the company decided to turn it into an official day off, allowing their team to fully enjoy the new game’s release guilt-free.
This isn’t unfamiliar territory for Pocketpair. The company has a reputation for recognizing major gaming events and previously declared a day off back in 2022 to mark the release of Elden Ring, another blockbuster in the gaming world.
Developers at Pocketpair have been busily engaged in multiple projects lately, including launching an indie publishing initiative and navigating challenges with a major corporation, making this short respite well-deserved. Palworld itself has been a hit, being available on various platforms including Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, not to mention its presence on Xbox Game Pass from the get-go.
With Monster Hunter Wilds set to drop on February 28th, 2025, on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5, it seems Pocketpair’s employees will have ample time to dive into this new adventure and return to work refreshed and inspired. The move showcases not only a clever nod to the gaming culture but also highlights Pocketpair’s commitment to fostering a creative and understanding work environment.
