Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 leak points to a huge battery boost, Snapdragon power, and on-device AI
Samsung’s next rugged smartwatch could be getting one of its biggest upgrades yet. Newly leaked promotional renders suggest the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may arrive with Qualcomm’s 3nm Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, dedicated on-device AI hardware, and a much larger 800 mAh battery.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to debut at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, likely alongside the standard Galaxy Watch 9. If the leaked materials are accurate, Samsung may be preparing a major shift for its smartwatch lineup by moving away from Exynos chips and adopting Qualcomm silicon across its next-generation wearables.
One of the most interesting upgrades is the rumored Snapdragon Wear Elite processor. Built on TSMC’s 3nm process, the chip should bring better performance and improved power efficiency compared to previous smartwatch platforms. More importantly, it is said to include dedicated AI hardware for wearable devices, which could enable faster and smarter features directly on the watch.
That means the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may be able to handle certain AI-powered tasks without relying as heavily on a paired smartphone. Potential features could include smarter message replies, personalized fitness coaching, health insights, and more responsive voice or workout assistance. For users who want a smartwatch that feels more independent, this could be a meaningful step forward.
Battery life also appears to be a major focus. The leaked renders point to an 800 mAh battery, a significant jump from the 590 mAh battery used in earlier Galaxy Watch Ultra models. That would represent an increase of roughly 36%, making it the first major battery capacity upgrade for Samsung’s Ultra smartwatch line.
While official battery life estimates have not been confirmed, a larger battery combined with a more efficient 3nm chip could result in better multi-day usage. It may also help users keep features like always-on display, GPS tracking, sleep monitoring, and health sensors active for longer without needing to recharge as often.
Samsung also appears to be refining the design. According to the leaked promotional material, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could feature a titanium case that is 12% slimmer than the previous model. That would be a notable change for a watch known for its tough, bulky look. A slimmer case could make the device more comfortable for daily wear while still keeping the rugged identity of the Ultra series.
Durability may also improve. The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is rumored to carry an IP69K rating, which would offer stronger protection against dust and high-pressure water exposure. Combined with the titanium body, this could make the watch better suited for outdoor activities, workouts, travel, and demanding environments.
The leaked images show two possible color options. One version appears to pair a titanium case with an olive-green band, while another features an all-black design with an orange ring around the crown area. The familiar dual-button layout also seems to remain, keeping the sporty and functional design language of the Galaxy Watch Ultra series.
Samsung has not officially confirmed the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, its specifications, or the reported move to Snapdragon Wear Elite. However, the details shown in the leaked promotional renders line up with earlier rumors suggesting that Samsung’s next smartwatch generation will focus heavily on performance, AI, battery life, and durability.
If these leaks prove accurate, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 could be one of Samsung’s most important wearable upgrades in years.
