The excitement surrounding the release of Samsung’s latest flagship phones, the Galaxy S24 series—including the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra—is palpable. Recent reports from South Korea indicate that these models are on the verge of setting new pre-order records, surpassing previous achievements by the tech giant.
In the first week of pre-orders alone, the Galaxy S24 lineup has garnered almost 1.2 million orders in South Korea. This is a significant leap from last year’s Galaxy S23 series, which collected 1.09 million pre-orders in the same timeframe. Enthusiasm for the Galaxy S24 is so high that predictions suggest a whopping 36 million units could be sold by year’s end. If these estimates hold true, the Galaxy S24 could become the first flagship since the Galaxy S10 in 2019 to exceed the 30 million sales mark.
Anecdotal evidence from South Korea’s largest wireless carriers suggests that consumers are eager to experience the new AI features boasted by the Galaxy S24 series, with many visiting stores to see the devices firsthand. Notably, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is drawing the lion’s share of interest, accounting for over 60% of the pre-orders.
Despite the current success of the Galaxy S24 series, it still has some way to go to surpass the pre-order records set by the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ in 2019, which saw close to 1.4 million units pre-ordered. It remains to be seen if Samsung can break its own record with the S24 series or any future releases, especially if it decides to charge for AI features.
With immense curiosity and anticipation for the new Galaxy S24 series, consumers are clearly demonstrating their trust and preference for Samsung’s innovation and quality. This robust start in pre-orders hints at another era of dominance for Samsung in the smartphone market.
