The recent rollout of Samsung’s February 2024 security update has made its way to the factory-unlocked versions of the Galaxy A53 in the US, following an extended delay after carrier-locked models received the patch. Additionally, the Galaxy A32 and Galaxy A13 5G models in the US are now receiving the same security update. It’s uncertain whether these models will see the March security update.
Galaxy A53 Owners in the US Receive Long-Awaited February Update
The Galaxy A53, a popular mid-range model from 2022, was quick to get the February security update in the US for carrier-locked versions. Unlocked Galaxy A53 users, however, had to wait considerably longer. The update has finally commenced for these devices, carrying firmware build number A536U1UES8DXA5, and it is applicable to devices on a variety of major carrier networks, without delivering any new features or changes beyond the important security improvements.
February’s security maintenance tackled over 60 security risks, addressing numerous critical issues that could have potentially allowed unauthorized remote access to devices.
Galaxy A32 and A13 5G Also Updated
In tandem with the Galaxy A53, the Galaxy A32 and A13 5G have also started to receive the February security fixes. Updates for these models are occurring for the carrier-locked Galaxy A32 and the factory-unlocked Galaxy A13 5G, featuring build numbers A326USQSCDXB2 and A136U1UES7DXB1 respectively. These updates are similarly focused on improving device security without any feature additions.
Rollout of March Security Updates Underway
As Samsung launches the February security updates for the aforementioned Galaxy devices, the rollout of March security patches is already in progress for other models, such as the Galaxy S24 and S23. More devices are expected to receive the March update shortly. Samsung device users can manually check for new updates by going to Settings, selecting Software Update, and then tapping on Download and Install.
