GALAX Unleashes the First Dual 16-Pin GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme With 400W Enthusiast Power

GALAX has introduced one of the most extreme GeForce RTX 5080 graphics cards so far, and it is clearly built for PC enthusiasts who want serious overclocking headroom. The new GALAX GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme stands out with a rare dual 12V-2×6 power connector design, giving it far more power capacity than a standard RTX 5080 typically requires.

Most high-end GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards use a single 12V-2×6 connector, with only select premium RTX 5090 models moving beyond that setup. That makes this RTX 5080 especially unusual. While the standard GeForce RTX 5080 is generally rated around 360W, GALAX has pushed this HOF Extreme model further with a 400W total graphics power mode and a design that appears ready for aggressive tuning.

The dual 16-pin 12V-2×6 connectors are the highlight here. Each connector can theoretically support up to 600W, giving the card a combined power delivery potential of 1200W. Of course, the RTX 5080 HOF Extreme is not expected to draw anywhere near that in normal use. Instead, the setup is aimed at overclockers who want maximum stability, flexibility, and extra power headroom when pushing the GPU beyond standard limits.

GALAX has also equipped the card with a robust 20+4 power phase design. This kind of power delivery system is meant to provide cleaner, more stable voltage to the GPU, which is especially important when running higher clock speeds or experimenting with advanced overclocking profiles. For users who enjoy benchmarking, custom tuning, or chasing higher performance numbers, this card is clearly designed with them in mind.

Cooling is another major focus of the GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme. GALAX uses its signature Hall of Fame cooling design, featuring three large 102mm fans on the front of the graphics card and an additional 92mm fan on the back. This rear fan helps move heat away from critical components more efficiently, improving airflow across the PCB and supporting sustained performance under heavy load.

The card also includes a vapor chamber and eight heat pipes, helping transfer heat away from the GPU quickly. To further improve thermal performance, GALAX uses Honeywell PTM7950 thermal material, which is known for strong long-term cooling efficiency. This should help the graphics card maintain lower temperatures during demanding gaming sessions, rendering workloads, and overclocking tests.

Out of the box, the GALAX GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme offers two performance profiles. In its higher-power 400W mode, the card reaches a boost clock of up to 2,805 MHz. Users who prefer a more balanced setup can switch to Gaming mode, which runs at a 360W power target with a 2,655 MHz boost clock. This gives owners the option to prioritize maximum performance or more conventional power behavior depending on their needs.

The design of the card also leans heavily into the premium enthusiast market. GALAX has added Swarovski crystal accents, giving the RTX 5080 HOF Extreme a distinctive look compared to more traditional graphics cards. Combined with its large cooler, dual power connectors, and Hall of Fame branding, this model is clearly intended to be a showcase GPU for high-end gaming PCs and custom builds.

Pricing and availability have not yet been confirmed. However, given the extreme power design, upgraded cooling solution, premium materials, and overclocking-focused features, the GALAX GeForce RTX 5080 HOF Extreme is expected to sit well above standard RTX 5080 models. For enthusiasts looking for one of the most powerful and visually striking RTX 5080 graphics cards, this model could become one of the most interesting options in the high-end GPU market.
