First Look: Casio’s New MRG-B2000 Carbon-Frame Watch Appears in Hands-On Photos After Its Debut

Casio’s latest premium G-Shock, the MTG-B4000D-1A, has appeared in fresh hands-on photos after being shown at a recent event in Japan. Already up for pre-order there, this new MT-G series model is drawing attention for its bold, industrial styling and a striking mix of materials that looks even better in real-world lighting than in early product images.

The newly surfaced photos put the spotlight on the watch’s silver-toned stainless-steel build, revealing a mix of hairline brushing and mirror-polished accents. These contrasting finishes stand out on key areas like the bezel and the center links of the bracelet, creating a high-end, reflective look that changes depending on how the light hits it. The design doesn’t try to be subtle—this is clearly a statement G-Shock aimed at buyers who want rugged engineering with luxury-level detail.

One of the biggest visual highlights is the dual-material band. Alongside the stainless-steel sections, Casio uses carbon fiber elements that add lightweight strength and a darker, textured contrast. In the close-up shots, the carbon fiber portions show a distinctive black, marble-like patterning that gives the strap a more technical, performance-inspired feel while also helping the overall design look more premium.

Beyond the aesthetics, the MTG-B4000D-1A is built for serious durability. It’s a Triple G Resist model designed to handle shock, centrifugal forces, and vibration, and it also features an upgraded Dual Core Guard structure to improve protection. Up top, the analog dial is covered by sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating for clearer viewing and better scratch resistance, and a screw-lock crown adds extra security for everyday wear and outdoor use.

This model is also packed with the kind of features buyers expect from a flagship G-Shock. It includes Multiband 6 radio timekeeping for automatic time calibration where supported, plus Smartphone Link via Bluetooth for convenient syncing and settings control. If you travel, dual time zone support makes it easy to track another region at a glance. You also get practical tools like a stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, and an LED light for dial illumination in low light.

Power and water resistance are equally strong. Casio’s Tough Solar charging helps keep the watch running with minimal maintenance, and 200-meter water resistance makes it suitable for swimming and a wide range of water activities.

In Japan, the Casio G-Shock MTG-B4000D-1A is currently available for pre-order at ¥187,000 (around $1,185). Casio has also listed the watch on its international website, which points to a broader global release in additional markets in the near future.
