An alleged Oppo Find X9 Ultra prototype is reportedly being tested in public, signaling that Oppo’s next Ultra-branded flagship could be getting closer to launch. While the phone is still believed to be months away from hitting shelves globally, a well-known leaker has shared early details about the display and battery found inside an engineering prototype.
According to the leak, the information comes from an Engineering Validation Test (EVT) unit. That matters because EVT devices are early-stage prototypes used to validate core hardware before the design is finalized. In other words, some specs seen in these test models can change later as the phone moves through additional verification stages ahead of mass production.
One of the biggest early takeaways is the reported screen configuration. The Find X9 Ultra prototype is said to be using a 1440p OLED panel from BOE with a 144Hz refresh rate. However, the same leak suggests the retail version may ultimately ship with a 120Hz refresh rate instead, which is a common choice among top-tier flagships to balance smooth scrolling, gaming performance, battery life, and thermal efficiency. If Oppo does drop from 144Hz to 120Hz for the final model, it would likely be a decision aimed at overall optimization rather than a major downgrade in real-world use.

That’s still extremely large by flagship standards and would be a meaningful upgrade for users focused on all-day endurance, camera-heavy use, and gaming. As with the display, battery size can shift between prototype stages depending on internal layout changes, efficiency targets, weight distribution, and charging system requirements.
On the performance side, the Find X9 Ultra is currently expected to launch with Qualcomm’s next high-end Snapdragon platform, positioning it as Oppo’s premium competitor in the Android flagship race. The latest chatter points to an initial unveiling timeline in late Q1, with a wider global release potentially arriving a few months after that.
