FCC Clues Reveal Samsung’s Upcoming Foldables and Galaxy Watches

Samsung’s next wave of foldable phones and smartwatches appears to be moving closer to launch, as several unannounced devices have surfaced in recent FCC certification records in the United States.

The listings point to multiple upcoming Galaxy devices, including the expected Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Watch 9 series, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. FCC approval is a key step before electronics can be sold commercially in the US, so these certifications strongly suggest that Samsung’s next major hardware lineup is progressing on schedule.

According to the newly spotted FCC records, the following model numbers have appeared:

SM-F776U, expected to be the Galaxy Z Flip 8

SM-F976U, expected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra

SM-L340 and SM-L345, likely the 40mm Galaxy Watch 9 in Wi-Fi and cellular versions

SM-L350 and SM-L355, likely the 44mm Galaxy Watch 9 in Wi-Fi and cellular versions

SM-L715, likely the cellular model of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2

Samsung’s model numbering makes these predictions fairly straightforward. The company’s book-style foldable phones typically use SM-F9xx model numbers, while its clamshell Flip devices generally fall under the SM-F7xx range. Galaxy Watch models have also used SM-Lxx-style numbering for several generations, making the smartwatch listings easier to identify.

The most eye-catching device in the filing is the SM-F976U, which is widely expected to arrive as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. If accurate, this would position the device as the premium successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, potentially bringing upgrades in design, display technology, performance, battery efficiency, and camera hardware.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 also appears to be on track. Samsung’s Flip series has become one of the most recognizable foldable phone lines, offering a compact design that opens into a full-sized smartphone. With rivals pushing harder into the foldable market, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 will likely play an important role in keeping Samsung competitive in the mainstream foldable segment.

On the wearable side, the FCC listings suggest Samsung is preparing both 40mm and 44mm versions of the Galaxy Watch 9, each with Wi-Fi and cellular options. This points to a familiar launch strategy, giving buyers a choice between different sizes and connectivity features. The appearance of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 cellular variant also indicates that Samsung may continue its push into the rugged premium smartwatch category.

However, a few rumored devices are missing from the current FCC records. The expected Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, believed to carry the model number SM-F971U, has not appeared so far. The same applies to the rumored Galaxy Watch 9 Classic models, which are expected to use SM-L510 and SM-L515 model numbers.

Their absence does not necessarily mean these devices have been canceled or will skip the US market. FCC listings can appear at different times, and additional certifications may still arrive later. Still, it raises questions about whether these models will launch alongside the main Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

Samsung is expected to reveal more details during its next Unpacked event, reportedly scheduled for July 22 in London. If the timing holds, the event could serve as the official debut for the company’s 2026 foldable phones and next-generation smartwatches.

For now, the FCC filings offer a strong early sign that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy foldables and wearables are nearly ready for market. With the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 all appearing in certification records, Samsung fans may not have to wait much longer for the company’s next major product launch.
