Expedition of the Guild Opens the Gates to Its First Playtest

Expedition of the Guild Launches First Playtest, Bringing Solo MMO Raiding to Steam

Indie studio Chubby Meow Game has opened the first playtest for Expedition of the Guild, a retro-inspired solo MMO raiding game that lets players experience the excitement of classic dungeon runs without needing an online party.

Instead of logging into a massive multiplayer world and waiting for a full guild to gather, Expedition of the Guild puts the entire raid team under your control. Players recruit heroes, organize party roles, build class strategies, and take on challenging bosses in a game designed to capture the golden age of MMORPG raiding in a single-player format.

In Expedition of the Guild, you begin with a small group of adventurers and gradually transform them into a powerful guild. Each hero belongs to a different class, with familiar roles such as tanks, damage dealers, and healers playing a major part in every battle. Paladins can hold the line, Mages can unleash devastating spells, Hunters can provide reliable damage, and Priests can keep the team alive during dangerous encounters.

The core gameplay focuses on building the right team for each dungeon. Players can create a balanced raid composition for safer progression, stack high-damage heroes to clear content faster, or experiment with unusual party setups for a greater challenge. Before every raid, you choose your lineup, prepare your strategy, and guide your guild through boss fights filled with unique mechanics.

Boss encounters are one of the main highlights of Expedition of the Guild. Players will face massive giants, ancient gods, and other powerful enemies hidden deep within dangerous ruins. Each boss is designed with its own mechanics, meaning success depends on planning, smart team composition, and understanding how each hero contributes to the fight.

Progression also plays a major role. As your heroes gain experience, they unlock talent trees that allow you to shape their abilities and specialize their roles. Gear is another important part of building the ultimate guild, with class-based equipment helping your heroes grow stronger as they take on tougher dungeons.

One standout feature is the loot system. Expedition of the Guild removes random loot rolls, giving players full control over how rewards are distributed. After defeating bosses and opening treasure chests, you decide which hero gets each piece of gear. This makes it easier to plan endgame builds and avoid the frustration of leaving important upgrades to chance.

For players who miss the feeling of classic MMORPG raids but prefer a solo experience, Expedition of the Guild offers an interesting twist on the genre. It combines party management, dungeon strategy, character progression, and boss-focused combat into one compact adventure.

The first playtest for Expedition of the Guild is available now on Steam, giving players a chance to try its solo raid gameplay and start building their own legendary guild.
