A recent gaming performance test on the AIM MAX+ laptop with the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo chip has caught the attention of tech enthusiasts. This machine is designed to deliver impressive gaming experiences without breaking the bank, and it’s making a splash with its powerful integrated GPU and gaming-friendly Linux distro, Bazzite.
When tested, The Witcher 3 ran at 1440p Ultra settings, maintaining over 80 frames per second (FPS). Japanese Drift Master also performed admirably at 1440p High settings, offering between 80 and 95 FPS. Shadow of the Tomb Raider was no slouch either, averaging 83 FPS at the highest settings.
Cyberpunk 2077, a notoriously demanding game, was put through its paces at 1440p High with FSR 2.1 Quality, hitting about 66 FPS, with potential improvements if switched to balanced FSR. Unfortunately, Doom: The Dark Ages encountered an issue, crashing at the menu, the only hiccup during the tests under Bazzite.
Set to launch in early October 2025 at an attractive price point just under $1000, the AIM MAX+ laptop is generating a lot of excitement. While some see it as an unbeatable deal at $999, others hope for a more affordable version with fewer cores. Currently, though, AIM plans to release only a 32GB RAM variant, with no alternate configurations announced.
The combination of the AMD Strix Halo chip and the gaming-focused Linux platform provides a unique and efficient gaming experience, requiring just 65W to operate smoothly.
