Epic Games Store Surprise: Two Free PC Games Dropped Early Ahead of the Regular Giveaway Schedule

Epic Games Store has quietly dropped the price of two PC games to $0 for a limited time, and the twist is that they’re not part of the store’s usual weekly free game rotation. Instead, the developer is running these giveaways directly, which is why they showed up as free outside the normal refresh schedule.

The two newly spotted free games are NightReaper2 and Sunblockers, both developed and published by DarkGoose4. While one of these titles is also available on Steam, this particular free-to-claim deal is exclusive to Epic Games Store.

NightReaper2 is a stylized dark action indie game built around fast movement, sharp combat, and exploration. You play as a small but deadly reaper navigating a world packed with troubled villagers and hostile police patrols, all under the rule of four powerful kings. A big part of the gameplay focuses on harvesting souls as you push through haunted environments and exaggerated, comic-horror-inspired character designs that give it a spooky, over-the-top vibe.

NightReaper2 is available to claim for free on Epic Games Store until February 28, 2026. When it isn’t discounted, it’s typically priced at $3.99.

Sunblockers takes a completely different route. This one leans into light survival adventure gameplay with clicker-style mechanics. It drops you into a frozen world overrun by zombies, where survival depends on collecting resources, upgrading your abilities, and steadily working toward a larger objective: freeing the trapped sun. The controls are simple and the progression is designed to be easy to pick up, making it a more relaxed alternative to the combat-heavy feel of NightReaper2.

Sunblockers is also free to claim on Epic Games Store until February 28, 2026, and its usual price is $1.99.

Alongside these developer-driven freebies, Epic Games Store is still running its standard free game promotion as well, with Definitely Not Fried Chicken currently available as part of the regular weekly giveaway schedule and expected to be replaced by two new free titles soon.
