Enhanced Capabilities with the Latest Minisforum Mini PCs

Minisforum, a brand recognized for its compact computing solutions, has unveiled upgraded models of its small form factor Mini PCs—the AMD-centric MS-A1 and the Intel-based MS-01. These latest iterations come packed with robust configurations, including dual 10 GbE LAN support, substantial SSD capacity, and ample processing power to cater to various user needs.

Introducing the Upgraded Minisforum Mini PCs

The upgraded MS-01 Mini PC series, originally featuring the top-tier Core i9-12900H and Core i9-13900H CPUs, now offers a more budget-friendly Core i5 variant. This new addition caters to users seeking the Mini PC’s high-end functionalities without the necessity for extreme CPU power.

Regarding memory, the Intel models offer support for up to 64 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM memory. In contrast, the AMD variants step it up with support for up to 96 GB of the same type of memory and compatibility with 65W AM5 CPUs, such as the Ryzen 5 7600, Ryzen 5 8600G, and the Ryzen 7 8700G.

The Mini PCs are housed in a sleek black metal chassis, which can be positioned either vertically or horizontally. Moreover, the design prioritizes a strong I/O foundation, with dual USB4 ports, dual 2.5GbE ports, HDMI 2.0, and a power jack. With a potential networking transmission speed of up to 65 Gbps, these devices ensure top-tier connectivity.

Storage and Expansion

Minisforum’s Mini PCs offer expansive storage solutions, equipped with four M.2 slots capable of handling up to 8 TB SSDs per slot, culminating in a substantial cumulative capacity of 24 TB. Additionally, the setup allows for the inclusion of a single U.2 SSD along with two 22110 SSDs.

Expansion doesn’t end with storage—the Mini PCs feature dedicated PCIe x16 slots. While this enables the integration of a small form factor (ITX) graphics card, the included 180W adapter limits recommended graphics power to an RTX 3050 or below to ensure system stability.

Efficient Cooling System

A sophisticated cooling system is integral to maintaining performance in such compact devices. Minisforum has delivered a cooling solution employing an aluminum base plate, copper heat pipes, and a blower fan. This setup is designed to provide up to 80W of effective thermal dissipation.

Unlike the MS-01, the MS-A1 model does not come with a PCIe x16 slot but includes an OcuLink port to support an external GPU (eGPU), offering a pathway for enhanced graphics performance if required.

Pricing

The refreshed Mini PC models are priced according to their configurations, with the base MS-01 “Core i5” setup starting at $589, including 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. The higher-end Core i9-12900H and Core i9-13900H models have price tags of $679 and $839, respectively. Those who prefer to customize their Mini PCs can opt for barebone versions starting from $399.

Diverse Configurations for Different Needs

The Minisforum MS-01 and MS-A1 Mini PCs cater to a wide arrayiency of professional demands, embracing diverse CPU options and facilitating expansive memory and storage capacities. With dual 10 GbE LAN support, robust cooling, and eGPU compatibility, these Mini PCs are tailor-made for users who require a powerful yet compact workstation with strong network capabilities and flexible expansion options. Whether for home office setups or specialized workstations, the Minisforum Mini PCs blend performance with versatility to meet the modern computing demands.
