After months of anticipation filled with leaks and rumors, Battlefield 6 is finally available for pre-order. The good news? It’s not priced at $80, unless you’re eyeing the Phantom Edition. For those hesitant to buy before trying, an open beta offers a taste of the gameplay. The official release is slated for October 10.
The open beta for Battlefield 6 starts on August 9 at 1 AM PT and wraps up on August 11, with a second phase running from August 14 to 17. Open to everyone, no purchase is necessary—simply download it from the EA App or your console’s store. Pre-loading on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S|X begins on August 4, but last-gen consoles won’t be supported.
Despite its 2025 launch, Battlefield 6’s system requirements are surprisingly mild. A minimum setup includes an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, paired with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT, and 16 GB of RAM. For a smoother experience, aim for a Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X with a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Radeon RX 6700 XT. Storage-wise, you’ll need 55 GB of SSD space, or 80 GB if you prefer higher-quality textures.
The game does have an unusual prerequisite: secure boot enabled in your BIOS. While typically default on many systems, it could prevent online play on older hardware lacking this feature. EA has detailed why secure boot is essential—to help combat cheating—which is crucial for a fair gaming environment.
