Helldivers 2 performance fix will take months as Arrowhead prioritizes stability over new content
Helldivers 2 has been a runaway multiplayer success, but its biggest battle lately has been technical. Since launch, players across all platforms have reported lag, crashes, and frame rate drops, and many say the issues intensified after the recent Into the Unjust update.
Addressing the community in the game’s official Discord, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani outlined what comes next. He explained that the team is preparing multiple patches aimed at stabilizing the game and fixing ongoing problems, but urged players to expect a gradual rollout rather than overnight relief. In his words: “Before we return to (what we hope is a new normal) we have more patches coming.” He added that “Performance will take many many more months of work to get to even more meaningful improvement.”
In practical terms, this means the developers are shifting focus. Some future content updates are being delayed so the team can concentrate on performance, stability, and bug fixes first. The aim is to address the most disruptive issues step by step, improving the experience incrementally across platforms before moving forward with new features.
For players, the message is clear: improvements are coming, but they will arrive over time. Expect a series of patches that chip away at the worst offenders—stuttering, crashes, and inconsistent frame rates—while the studio works toward what it calls a new normal for performance. The trade-off is fewer near-term content drops as resources are redirected to make the core experience smoother and more reliable.
Helldivers 2 remains one of the most popular co-op shooters around, and Arrowhead’s plan signals a long-term commitment to getting the game into better shape. If you’ve been waiting for a quick fix, temper expectations; the path to meaningful performance gains will take months. But with a dedicated patch cadence and stability as the top priority, the next phase of Helldivers 2 is about making sure the action plays as good as it looks—no matter which platform you’re on.
