Dell has unveiled two new heavy-duty Windows tablets built for the field: the Pro Rugged 10 and Pro Rugged 12. Designed for teams that work in harsh, unpredictable environments, these tablets combine enterprise-grade durability with modern AI performance, long runtimes, and repair-friendly modularity. Dell positions them as the lightest fully rugged 10-inch and 12-inch Windows tablets available, now powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 200V series with integrated NPUs for on-device AI.
Both models qualify as Copilot+ PCs running Windows 11 Pro, bringing accelerated AI features directly on the device without relying solely on the cloud. Dual hot-swappable batteries keep operations running around the clock, while IP66 certification and MIL-STD-810H testing help them survive dust, high-pressure water jets, drops, and vibration. They also meet MIL-STD-461G standards for electromagnetic compatibility, an important box to tick for mission-critical deployments.
The Pro Rugged 12 weighs 1.31 kg and features a 12-inch FHD+ touchscreen that hits an impressive 1200 nits for outdoor visibility. The Pro Rugged 10 trims weight to 1.04 kg with a 10-inch display rated at 1000 nits. Both panels use a 16:10 aspect ratio, are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and support glove and wet touch input—ideal for first responders, construction sites, utilities, logistics, and any job that doesn’t stop for bad weather.
Under the hood, configurations scale up to 32 GB of LPDDR5x memory and 2 TB of removable SSD storage. Systems with Intel Core Ultra 7 pair with Arc 140V graphics, while Ultra 5 variants use Arc 130V. Connectivity options include Wi‑Fi 7 and optional 5G, giving field teams fast, flexible links whether they’re in the office, on the road, or far from fixed infrastructure.
Security and manageability are central to the design. Features include TPM 2.0, fingerprint and smartcard readers, Windows Hello face recognition, and mechanical privacy shutters. Serviceability is a standout: the USB‑C port, SSD, and batteries are user-replaceable, supporting quick repairs and longer device lifecycles. Sustainability also gets attention with 100% recycled or renewable packaging, 30% post-consumer recycled plastic in the speaker housing, and up to 98% recycled aluminum in the power adapter.
Dell’s accessory ecosystem lets teams tailor the tablets to their workflows. Options include full-size IP66-rated keyboards, carry handles, rotating hand straps, and magnetic VESA-mount plates. The 12-inch model supports additional I/O configurations and a longer-range barcode scanner for advanced data capture, while the 10-inch version uses a compact 50×50 VESA mount for tighter spaces. Support plans include standard coverage and ProSupport with next-business-day onsite service for up to five years.
