Death Stranding 2 is about to arrive on PC, with the launch set for March 19. Ahead of release, Kojima Productions and PlayStation have outlined a batch of PC-focused upgrades designed to make the experience smoother, faster, and more visually impressive than ever.
One of the biggest draws for PC players is performance flexibility. Death Stranding 2 supports uncapped frame rates, letting you push beyond console limits if your hardware can handle it. The game’s PC requirements are also described as fairly reasonable, and it’s even expected to run on handheld gaming PCs like the Steam Deck, making it a strong option for players who want a portable version without sacrificing too much fidelity.
On the visual side, the PC version includes ray-traced reflections and ray-traced ambient occlusion, upgrades that can add more realistic lighting, shadowing, and surface detail. For players with ultra-wide setups, 21:9 monitor support is included as well. Notably, ultra-wide support is also planned to roll out later for PlayStation 5 players.
To help players tailor image quality and performance, Death Stranding 2 supports popular AI-based upscaling technologies, including NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS. Combined with an unlocked frame rate option, these features make it easier to hit higher FPS targets while maintaining crisp visuals—especially useful at higher resolutions or on mid-range systems.
Players using a DualSense controller on PC can also expect a more console-like feel thanks to full support for adaptive triggers, along with spatial audio for a more immersive soundscape.
There are a couple of in-game bonuses tied to account linking and edition choice. If you link your PlayStation ID with your Steam or Epic Games Store account, you’ll receive a porter suit skin in-game. The Deluxe Edition includes early access to extra gear: three boost skeletons and a machine gun earlier than you’d normally unlock them during a standard playthrough.
Death Stranding 2 is priced at $59.99 for the Standard Edition and $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition on PC storefronts.
The game has been praised for building on the original’s unique gameplay loop with meaningful improvements, and for delivering the kind of twist-heavy storytelling fans expect from Hideo Kojima. While new players can jump into Death Stranding 2 on its own, the story reportedly lands even better if you’ve played the first Death Stranding and understand the world and characters going in.
