Cooler Master GP2712: A New Era of High-Speed Gaming Monitors

Cooler Master has created a buzz in the gaming world with the announcement of their new gaming monitor, the GP2712, set to succeed the not-yet-released Tempest GP2711. Both monitors hail from the anticipated Tempest series, with the GP2712 positioned as a premium alternative.

The Tempest GP2711 is on the verge of reaching avid gamers as sales are about to kick off, and it has been spotted online, already shipping in the US market. In an interesting move by Cooler Master, the GP2712 is also set to grace the market, with expectations set for a Q3 2024 release. Production of this cutting-edge monitor is slated to commence soon.

The GP2712 comes with a price tag of $549, which is a modest increase of $100 from its predecessor, the Tempest GP2711. This increased investment brings significant enhancements, including a leap in refresh rate from 165 Hz to an impressive 240 Hz. Despite this refresh rate upgrade, the GP2712 retains the same sharp 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.

Where the GP2712 truly sets itself apart is in its backlighting system. It boasts a staggering 2,304 Mini LED local dimming zones, a notable expansion on the 576 zones offered by the Tempest GP2711. This advancement promises a more dynamic and vibrant display, potentially offering higher peak brightness levels. While the exact brightness capabilities of the GP2712 have yet to be confirmed, it’s expected to surpass the already impressive 600 nits SDR and 1,500 nits HDR peak brightness of the GP2711.

Despite these forward-looking features, the GP2712 maintains some continuity with its use of VA (Vertical Alignment) panel technology, ensuring deep blacks and wide viewing angles – characteristics that are particularly appreciated by gamers and visual content enthusiasts. The upcoming monitor will also continue with a 27-inch display, aligning with the size implied by its model number.

The GP2712 isn’t the only exciting development from Cooler Master. They’ve also teased the specifications for another Mini LED gaming monitor, the GP27U2, expected to make its debut later in the year.

As the gaming industry continues to advance, displays like the Cooler Master GP2712 represent the cutting edge of high-speed gaming monitors. Gamers can look forward to more immersive and visually stunning experiences thanks to the technological strides Cooler Master is making in display technology. With competitive pricing and specifications that challenge the status quo, Cooler Master’s upcoming monitors are set to make waves in the dynamic world of gaming aesthetics and performance.
