Colorful Unveils a Desktop Motherboard Built Around Intel’s i9-13900HX Laptop Flagship, Backing Up to 96GB DDR5

Colorful has quietly expanded into the “mobile on desktop” (MoDT) space with a new motherboard that brings laptop-class efficiency to a desktop-style build. The newly launched Battle-AX HM770M-K WiFi D5 V20 is a Micro-ATX board built around Intel’s H770 chipset, and it comes pre-equipped with a high-end Raptor Lake mobile processor: the Intel Core i9-13900HX.

That CPU choice is the headline feature. The Core i9-13900HX delivers 24 cores and 32 threads, boosts up to 5.4 GHz, and includes 36 MB of L3 cache. With a 55W rating, it’s positioned to be significantly more power-efficient than many traditional desktop flagships, while still offering the kind of multi-core muscle that suits demanding tasks like content creation, compiling, heavy multitasking, and other CPU-intensive workloads. For builders looking to balance performance and power draw, this kind of MoDT platform can be an appealing middle ground.

On the expansion side, the board includes a full-length PCIe x16 slot for a discrete graphics card, supporting up to PCIe 4.0. There’s also a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot available for smaller add-in cards, which helps with flexibility in compact builds where every slot matters.

Memory support is another strong point. The Battle-AX HM770M-K WiFi D5 V20 uses two standard DDR5 DIMM slots and supports up to 96 GB of RAM in dual-channel mode. It also supports memory speeds up to 6400 MT/s via Intel XMP, giving users room for both capacity-focused workstation builds and performance-tuned configurations.

Storage options are plentiful for a board in this class. You get two M.2 slots for NVMe SSDs, and both support PCIe Gen 4.0 for fast load times and high throughput. In addition to NVMe, Colorful includes six SATA ports, making it easy to mix in large-capacity 3.5-inch hard drives or 2.5-inch SATA SSDs—useful for creators, home servers, or anyone building a compact system with lots of local storage.

Connectivity is functional but not cutting-edge. The rear I/O offers multiple USB Type-A ports, including two USB 2.0 ports and four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. One notable omission is USB Type-C, which may matter to users with modern peripherals and external SSDs. Networking includes WiFi 6 and 1GbE LAN, and audio is handled through three standard rear audio jacks.

Colorful hasn’t shared official pricing or availability details yet. Still, the Battle-AX HM770M-K WiFi D5 V20 stands out as an interesting option for anyone considering a smaller desktop build that prioritizes efficiency without giving up high-end CPU performance. With a Core i9-13900HX built in, DDR5 support up to 96 GB, PCIe 4.0 graphics, and a strong mix of NVMe and SATA storage, it’s clearly aimed at versatile compact PCs in a market where flexible hardware configurations are increasingly in demand.
