Citizen’s New Promaster Dive Goes Bigger and Bolder—And Finally Lands in the U.S.

Citizen is leaning into bold, traditional dive-watch proportions with its newest limited-edition Promaster Dive, and it’s now officially available in the United States. The new Citizen Promaster Dive BN0167-09W lands at $495 and brings a noticeably bigger presence than the brand’s smaller recent releases, thanks to a 44mm stainless steel case that looks and feels like a classic tool watch on the wrist.

This model first appeared in Canada and China, and its US launch gives American buyers a fresh option in the Promaster Sea lineup—especially if you prefer larger divers with strong legibility and a rugged, purpose-built design. The case is paired with pronounced crown guards and a grippy, easy-to-turn bezel edge, underscoring that this watch is built with real-world usability in mind, not just looks.

The standout feature is the dial. Citizen says the BN0167-09W uses a new structural ink approach that creates a pigment-free surface designed to shift color as light hits it. In practice, the dial plays with aquatic tones—moving between deep blue, teal, and subtle violet flashes depending on viewing angle. A crisp white chapter ring frames the dial, sharpening contrast and making the time easier to read at a glance, which is exactly what you want from a serious dive watch.

Color coordination is a big part of the appeal here. The unidirectional bezel comes in teal to match the ocean-inspired theme, and the strap follows suit with a color-matched polyurethane band made from plant-based BENEBiOL material. Against the silver-tone stainless steel case, the teal elements pop without looking overdone, giving the watch a sport-forward personality that still feels clean and practical.

Functionally, Citizen sticks to the Promaster formula: lume-filled hour markers and a bold handset for visibility, plus a date window positioned at 3 o’clock. Inside, the watch runs on the Eco-Drive Caliber E168, meaning it charges from light and doesn’t require regular battery replacements. It’s also ISO-compliant and water-resistant to 200 meters, meeting expectations for a dive-capable watch that can handle daily wear and more demanding conditions.

As for availability, the Citizen Promaster Dive BN0167-09W is limited to 8,700 unnumbered pieces worldwide. That’s a larger run than some other recent limited editions, so it may be easier to track down for collectors and dive-watch fans who don’t want to race against extremely small production numbers. It also comes backed by Citizen’s standard 5-year limited warranty and a 30-day return policy.

Key specifications include a 44mm stainless steel case, mineral crystal for impact resistance, a unidirectional rotating bezel with a luminous pip at 12 o’clock, Eco-Drive Caliber E168 light-powered movement, 200-meter ISO-rated water resistance, black plant-based polyurethane strap material, and standard timekeeping with date display. The US price is set at $495.
