Citizen’s Limited Edition Tosa Washi Dial Watch Arrives in North America
Citizen is bringing one of its most distinctive new limited edition watches to North America, giving collectors another chance to own a model that blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with high-precision Eco-Drive technology.
The Citizen AQ4106-00B has now appeared in the brand’s North American catalogue, following its earlier reveal alongside the red-dial AQ4100-65X. While both watches share the same refined platform and limited production run, the AQ4106-00B stands out as the more unusual and artistic of the pair.
This limited edition Citizen watch features a 38.3 mm Super Titanium case treated with Duratect Sakura Pink, giving it a warm and elegant tone without making the design feel overly flashy. The case is paired with a white Tosa washi dial and a brown crocodile leather strap, creating a classic but highly distinctive look.
The biggest highlight is the dial. Citizen uses Unryushi, a traditional form of Japanese washi paper made by adding long fibers during the papermaking process. These fibers create soft, irregular, cloud-like patterns across the dial surface. Because of this technique, each dial has its own natural texture and character, meaning no two examples look exactly alike.
Citizen is limiting the AQ4106-00B to just 350 pieces worldwide, and the watches are unnumbered. That limited production makes it especially appealing for collectors who appreciate rare Japanese watches, handmade-style dial finishes, and understated luxury.
Inside the AQ4106-00B is Citizen’s Calibre A060 Eco-Drive movement. This light-powered movement is one of the brand’s most accurate, rated to within ±5 seconds per year. Since it runs on light, it does not require regular battery changes, making it both practical and low-maintenance.
The movement also includes several useful features, including a perpetual calendar, power reserve indicator, time-difference correction, shock detection, and automatic hand-position correction. Citizen also equips the watch with an instant date-change system, allowing the date to switch precisely at midnight rather than slowly moving over several hours.
In Canada, the Citizen AQ4106-00B is priced at CA$4,595. In the United States, it is listed at $3,095, which makes it $100 more expensive than the red-dial AQ4100-65X. U.S. buyers can expect availability from October 2.
