Citizen AT8260-85X Eco-Drive World-Time Chronograph Arrives in the US With a Higher Price
Citizen has officially introduced the AT8260-85X world-time chronograph in the United States, giving American watch buyers access to the green-dial stainless steel model that recently debuted in the UK. The watch is now listed on Citizen’s US store as a new release, priced at $675 before sales tax, with deliveries expected to begin from September 17.
The launch is notable not just because the AT8260-85X is a feature-packed atomic Eco-Drive chronograph, but also because of the pricing gap between the US and UK markets. In Britain, the same watch launched at £499, a price that includes 20% VAT. Once that tax is removed, the pre-tax UK price works out to about £415.83, or roughly $562. That means US buyers are effectively paying around 20% more before local sales tax is added.
In simple terms, the $675 US price is close to the full UK price after currency conversion, even though the British figure already includes tax. For American customers, the final checkout price may climb higher depending on state sales tax.
Citizen is also marketing the watch differently across regions. In the UK, it is sold under the World Chronograph A.T. name, while in the US it appears under the “Sport Luxury” category and is described as a store exclusive. Despite the different branding, the reference number remains AT8260-85X, confirming it is the same model.
At the heart of the Citizen AT8260-85X is the H800 Eco-Drive movement. This light-powered caliber removes the need for regular battery changes and supports radio-controlled timekeeping in North America, Europe, Japan, and China. When within range of compatible atomic clock signals, the watch can automatically correct the time and calendar, making it especially practical for frequent travelers.
The watch supports 26 time zones and includes a perpetual calendar, helping it stay accurate without manual date adjustments in most everyday situations. It also offers a 12/24-hour time display, power reserve indicator, date display, and a chronograph capable of measuring up to 60 minutes in 1/20-second increments.
The AT8260-85X features a 43 mm silver-tone stainless steel case paired with a matching stainless steel bracelet. The dial is protected by sapphire crystal, a welcome feature for buyers looking for better scratch resistance than standard mineral glass. The bracelet closes with a fold-over clasp and push-button release, adding security and convenience for daily wear.
Water resistance is rated at 100 meters, making the watch suitable for swimming, showering, and snorkeling. However, Citizen does not position it as a diving watch, so buyers planning serious underwater use may want to look at dedicated dive models instead.
With its atomic timekeeping, solar-powered Eco-Drive technology, sapphire crystal, stainless steel build, and world-time functionality, the Citizen AT8260-85X is aimed at buyers who want a practical travel watch with a sport-luxury look. The green dial gives it a modern visual edge, while the radio-controlled movement and perpetual calendar keep the focus firmly on convenience and accuracy.
The biggest talking point remains the US price. At $675 before tax, the AT8260-85X lands higher than its UK equivalent on a pre-tax basis, which may frustrate shoppers comparing international pricing. Still, for buyers who value Citizen’s Eco-Drive reliability, atomic synchronization, and a full stainless steel chronograph design, the AT8260-85X brings a strong feature set to the American market.
