Citizen Unveils Four Fresh Timepieces Featuring a Compass-Style Chapter Ring

Citizen is getting ready to expand its chronograph lineup in Europe with four fresh CA472 series watches, all built around a practical compass chapter ring and light-powered Eco-Drive technology. The new models spotted on Citizen’s European product pages include the CA4720-01X, CA4720-52L, CA4720-52X and CA4723-03A, giving buyers a choice of colors and strap styles while keeping the same core feature set.

At the heart of each watch is Citizen’s B620-00Z caliber, part of the brand’s Eco-Drive family. That means these watches recharge from a range of light sources, including indoor lighting and sunlight, and they’re rated for up to a 270-day power reserve when fully charged. For anyone who wants the look and function of a classic analog chronograph without the routine of battery changes, that’s one of the biggest selling points.

Functionally, the CA472 watches are designed to be more than just timekeepers. Alongside three main hands and a simple date window, the dial layout includes three sub-dials that add everyday utility: a stopwatch chronograph, a battery/power reserve indicator, and a 24-hour display. The compass chapter ring around the outer edge is there for quick directional reference, giving the watches an outdoorsy, tool-watch feel. Each model comes in a 42 mm case and uses a protective crystal glass over the dial.

The differences between the four versions come down to dial colors, case finishes, and straps. Two models go for a green dial paired with a silver-tone stainless steel case: the CA4720-01X is fitted with a black leather strap, while the CA4720-52X swaps that for a matching stainless steel bracelet. If you prefer a cooler, dressier tone, the CA4720-52L features a dark blue dial with a silver-tone stainless steel case and bracelet. The most distinctive option is the CA4723-03A, which combines a silver dial with a black ring and a gold-tone case, finished off with a black leather strap.

Pricing in the EU is set at €249 for the Citizen CA4720-01X, while the CA4720-52L, CA4720-52X and CA4723-03A will retail for €269 each. Citizen hasn’t confirmed an exact release date yet, but the watches are already appearing on official regional pages, suggesting a launch is likely approaching.

For shoppers comparing Citizen Eco-Drive chronographs in Europe, the CA472 range looks positioned as a solid mid-priced option: 42 mm sizing, compass styling, useful sub-dials, and the convenience of light-powered charging, with enough variety in colorways and strap choices to suit both casual and smart looks.
