Casio MRW-240H Goes on Sale in Japan as a Budget Diver-Style Watch With a Rotating Bezel
Casio has officially launched its new MRW-240H watch lineup in Japan, giving budget watch fans a fresh set of affordable diver-style models to consider. The three-watch series moved from preorder to general sale on August 7, with each model priced at ¥6,050, or roughly $38.
The standout option is the Casio MRW-240H-1E2JF, which features a classic red-and-blue rotating bezel design. This color combination is one of the most recognizable looks in sports watch history, yet Casio has brought it to a very accessible price point. Alongside it, buyers can also choose the all-black MRW-240H-1E1JF or the black-and-green MRW-240H-1E3JF.
All three watches share the same core design and specifications. The MRW-240H uses a resin case, keeping the weight low at just 39 grams. Its dimensions come in at 47.9 x 44.6 x 12.3 mm, making it a fairly noticeable watch on the wrist without becoming too heavy for daily wear.
One of the main attractions is the rotating bezel, which includes an aluminum ring on the top surface. At this price, that small material upgrade helps the watch feel more interesting than a basic plastic sports watch. It gives the MRW-240H a stronger diver-inspired appearance, even though it is not a certified professional dive watch.
The watch offers 10-bar water resistance, which is suitable for everyday water exposure, swimming, and general outdoor use. It also includes a date window, adding practical convenience for daily wear. Inside, Casio uses module 5058, rated for accuracy of around ±20 seconds per month. Power comes from an SR626SW battery, which is expected to last approximately three years.
To keep the cost low, Casio has equipped the MRW-240H with resin glass, commonly known as acrylic. This material is more resistant to shattering than mineral or sapphire crystal, but it is also more prone to scratches from regular use. For a low-cost sports watch, that trade-off is not unusual, though buyers should know that the crystal may show wear over time.
Despite its rotating bezel and water-resistant build, the MRW-240H does not carry ISO 6425 dive-watch certification. In practical terms, that means the bezel and diver-style design are more about appearance and casual functionality than professional underwater timing. Still, for around $38, the watch offers a lot of visual appeal and everyday usability.
The MRW-240H series launched as part of a wider Casio Collection release in Japan, which also included models such as the F-B100W, LTP-B150, and MTP-1440DJ. Among the new arrivals, the MRW-240H is the most affordable, making it especially appealing to collectors and first-time buyers looking for a low-cost Casio with a sportier look.
Japanese retailers have already started offering discounts below Casio’s official ¥6,050 price. Some listings have shown the all-black model at around ¥4,840, representing a 20% reduction. Availability appears to be spreading through major watch retailers in Japan, though Casio has not yet announced whether the MRW-240H lineup will be released internationally.
For buyers outside Japan, importing may be an option, but the final cost could rise once proxy service fees, shipping, and possible taxes are included. Even so, the Casio MRW-240H could become an attractive choice for anyone wanting an inexpensive, lightweight, water-resistant analog watch with classic diver-inspired styling.
