Casio Unveils Urban Utility G-Shock Watches with Decade-Long Battery and Sustainable Features

Casio Japan has unveiled two exciting new additions to their iconic G-Shock line, the GD-010CE-5JF and GA-010CE-2AJF, spotlighting a strong commitment to sustainability. Scheduled for release in January 2025, the GD-010CE is priced at approximately $110, while the GA-010CE will be available for around $132.

What makes these models truly noteworthy is their construction from biomass plastics for the case and bezel, demonstrating Casio’s dedication to eco-friendly production. Adding to their green credentials, the watches feature cross-straps made from “Cordura” re/cor materials, utilizing recycled PET threads for enhanced durability and sustainability. These straps are uniquely dyed using “Food Textile,” a creative method that uses leftover food waste for natural coloring—echinacea for the GD-010CE and red turnips for the GA-010CE.

Functionality remains key for these models. The GD-010CE boasts impressive longevity with its 10-year battery life and comes with essential G-Shock features like 200-meter water resistance, multiple time zones, and precise alarms. Meanwhile, the GA-010CE offers an analog-digital display that includes advanced capabilities such as world time, a stopwatch, and a countdown timer, all encased in a shock-resistant build.

Reflecting a natural lifestyle, the design of these watches combines earthy colors and resilient materials that embody both durability and environmental consciousness. Currently exclusive to the Japanese market, these models are poised to be sought-after pieces for collectors and G-Shock enthusiasts worldwide.
