Casio Expands the G-Shock 2500 Series With Three New Metal-Bezel Models
Casio is widening its G-Shock 2500 lineup with three new models that sit neatly between the lightweight resin versions and the heavier full-metal editions. The new watches, the GMC-2500-1AJF, GMC-2500-1A8JF, and GMC-2500G-9AJF, are scheduled to launch in Japan in November 2026.
The GMC-2500-1AJF and GMC-2500-1A8JF are priced at ¥37,400, which is around $234, while the gold-accented GMC-2500G-9AJF comes in slightly higher at ¥39,600, or about $248. This places them above the all-resin GAC-2500, priced at ¥20,900, but below the stainless-steel bracelet GMC-2500D, which costs ¥49,500.
The appeal of these new G-Shock watches comes down to their balanced construction. Casio uses a combination of resin, biomass plastic, and stainless steel for the case and bezel, paired with a biomass-plastic resin band. This gives the models a more premium feel than the full-resin edition while keeping them much lighter than the steel-bracelet version.
At 68 grams, the new metal-bezel G-Shock 2500 watches land in the middle of the range. By comparison, the full-resin GAC-2500 weighs just 47 grams, while the steel GMC-2500D weighs 138 grams. That means Casio now offers the same general design across a wide spread of weights, giving buyers more flexibility depending on whether they prefer lightweight comfort or a more substantial feel on the wrist.
The case size remains the same as the full-metal models, measuring 46.7 x 43.8 x 12.9 mm. That should make the new versions feel familiar to fans of the series, while the lighter resin band may make them more comfortable for daily wear.
One of the standout features is Casio’s Multi-Mission Date display. Instead of working only as a standard date window, this three-digit rolling display changes its role depending on the function being used. It adds a functional, mechanical-style touch to the dial and gives the watch a more dynamic character.
The Multi-Mission Date sits opposite a small-seconds subdial, which includes a “Shock Resist” marking on the tip of the hand. Casio has also designed the hour and minute hands to be held magnetically rather than fixed with traditional pins. According to Casio, this helps the hands better absorb impact. The company notes that the minute hand may briefly shift after a strong knock before returning to its correct position.
Visually, the new models are more refined than the all-resin GAC-2500. While the resin version uses a molded plastic dial to create depth, these new variants feature what Casio describes in Japan as a more subdued and restrained dial design. The result should appeal to buyers who want the toughness of a G-Shock but with a slightly cleaner and more mature look.
The GMC-2500G-9AJF adds a more eye-catching finish with gold IP plating on the bezel. Importantly, the gold treatment is limited to the bezel, allowing the watch to keep a balanced appearance without becoming overly flashy.
All three models share the same core specifications. They offer 200-meter water resistance, inorganic glass, Neobrite luminous coating, an amber LED light with afterglow, a 30-minute stopwatch, a full auto calendar, and accuracy rated at ±15 seconds per month. Casio has also included a second-hand sleep function to help conserve power, while the battery is expected to last around two years.
With these new additions, the G-Shock 2500 series now offers a broader range of choices for different types of users. The all-resin model remains the best pick for those who want maximum lightness and a lower price, while the steel-bracelet model delivers the most premium build. The new metal-bezel versions sit comfortably in between, combining rugged G-Shock durability, a more upscale exterior, and a practical everyday weight.
For G-Shock fans looking for a tough analog watch with a stainless-steel bezel, resin-band comfort, and a more refined dial, the upcoming Casio GMC-2500 models could become some of the most interesting releases in the 2500 series.
