The Casio Edifice EFS-S650DC-1A is turning heads with its sleek, all-black design, accentuated by a striking ceramic bezel and solar power capabilities. The model, which has just received an official listing, will debut this month alongside two other versions.
This new addition to the Edifice line boasts a sophisticated black-ion plating, providing a sporty yet understated look that is expected to appeal to fans of both the Edifice and chronograph collections. Compared to its silver and navy counterparts released earlier, the black version offers a clean, modern appeal. The vertical-pattern dial is subtle from certain angles, creating a minimalistic yet polished effect, although it might appear a bit flat in low-light settings.
The design is cohesive, with subdials matching the radial pattern of the dial background, and a copper-colored central seconds hand introducing a vibrant touch to the otherwise monotone palette.
With a case sizing at 46.7 mm long, 40.9 mm wide, and 11.7 mm thick, it’s on the slimmer side for an Edifice chronograph. This makes it more wearable compared to earlier models with chunkier designs. In terms of features, it’s equipped with a 1-second stopwatch, three subdials, solar-powered movement, 100-meter water resistance, and a battery reserve lasting up to five months when fully charged.
While this model’s ceramic bezel impacts the design in a subtler way than its silver or green peers, it remains appealing. The bracelet’s robust construction coupled with the metal and ceramic mix promises durability and scratch resistance. A bit more contrast or a brushed finish on the indices might have enhanced its visual impact, but the watch still stands out.
As the model is now officially listed, it should be available for purchase soon. Keep an eye out for when it hits the market!
