Casio Unveils Sleek New Minimalist Watches in Premium Metal Cases

Casio has introduced two fresh additions to its MTP lineup in China, launching the new MTP-C666 series as part of a special “2025 Exam Gift Box” release. These minimalist analog watches are designed with students in mind, timed for the major exam season that typically takes place in February and March. The concept is simple: a clean, everyday watch that also works as a meaningful good-luck gift.

There are two versions in the range, each built around a classic, easy-to-read dial. The Casio MTP-C666-1B features a black dial paired with crisp white hour markers for strong contrast, while the MTP-C666-7B flips the theme with a white face and black details for a lighter, sharper look. Both models use a silver-tone stainless steel case and are matched with a black resin strap, keeping the style understated and practical for daily wear.

Casio keeps the proportions slim and wearable, with a round case measuring 42.7 x 36.0 x 8.1 mm. The watch is water resistant for everyday use, making it suitable for routine activities like commuting, school days, and typical accidental splashes.

A standout detail is hidden on the case back: an engraved carp motif. This isn’t just decoration—it references the Chinese Longmen legend, where the carp symbolizes perseverance and success, often used as a metaphor for students overcoming challenges and achieving strong exam results. Casio leans into that theme further with custom packaging in red, black, and gold, giving the watch a gift-ready presentation that feels celebratory and culturally meaningful.

Functionally, the Casio MTP-C666 sticks to a straightforward three-hand layout for hours, minutes, and seconds. The brand lists accuracy at within about 20 seconds per month, which is typical for reliable quartz analog watches. Power comes from an SR626SW battery, with an estimated battery life of around three years, making it a low-maintenance option for students who just want a watch that works.

Pricing in China is set at CNY 390 (around $57) for both the MTP-C666-1B and MTP-C666-7B. Given the exam-focused theme and specialized gift box positioning, it appears unlikely that this release will expand to other regions such as the United States, where Casio already offers various alternative MTP series models.
