Casio MTP-E740 brings colorful transparent dials to an affordable dress watch lineup
Casio has introduced the new MTP-E740 collection, a fresh range of budget-friendly analog watches that proves an affordable dress watch can still have plenty of personality. Instead of sticking to a simple traditional dial, the MTP-E740 series adds a translucent face that reveals the day and date wheels underneath, giving the watches a layered, mechanical-inspired look without losing Casio’s practical everyday appeal.
The design feels playful, retro, and surprisingly bold for an entry-level watch. Its transparent dial is the standout feature, turning the calendar mechanism into part of the styling rather than hiding it away. This gives the MTP-E740 a vintage character that recalls classic 1970s watch design, while the bright color options make the lineup feel modern and easy to wear.
Casio is offering the MTP-E740 in five different versions. The collection includes brown, navy blue, bright blue, teal, and orange models, giving buyers a wide range of choices depending on whether they want something subtle or something more eye-catching. The orange and teal options are especially vibrant, while the navy and brown models offer a more understated look for daily wear.
Beyond the dial, the MTP-E740 keeps things familiar and practical. Each model features a three-hand analog display, applied baton hour markers, and a framed date window positioned at 3 o’clock. The day display supports both English and Spanish, making the watch convenient for a wider range of users.
The watch comes with a stainless steel case and matching stainless steel bracelet, giving it a more polished feel than many casual watches in its price category. The case measures 45 × 39.8 × 8.7 mm, making it compact enough for everyday use while still having enough wrist presence to show off the colorful transparent dial. It weighs 103 g and uses a one-touch three-fold clasp for easy wear. Casio lists the bracelet as suitable for wrists from 150 mm to 205 mm.
For durability, the MTP-E740 includes mineral glass and 50-meter water resistance. That makes it suitable for everyday splashes and light water exposure, though it is not intended as a serious dive watch. Inside, it runs on Casio’s 5339 quartz movement, rated at an accuracy of ±20 seconds per month. Power comes from an SR920SW battery, with an estimated battery life of around three years.
