Casio is adding another budget-friendly option to its classic analog lineup with the new MTP-1440DJ series, a pair of simple three-hand watches designed for everyday wear. The two models, MTP-1440DJ-1AJF and MTP-1440DJ-7BJF, are now listed in Japan for preorder, each priced at ¥7,700, which is roughly $48.
The appeal of the Casio MTP-1440DJ is its straightforward design. These watches do not try to be flashy or overloaded with features. Instead, they focus on the basics: a clean analog dial, easy-to-read hour numerals, a day-date display, and a metal bracelet. For anyone looking for an affordable Casio watch with a traditional look, this new release keeps things simple in the best way.
The MTP-1440DJ-1AJF comes with a black dial and bright white numerals, giving it a slightly more formal and refined appearance. The MTP-1440DJ-7BJF features a white dial with black numerals, creating a more classic dress-watch style. Both versions include a day and date window at the 3 o’clock position, with support for Japanese and English day display options.
One of the more interesting details is the case material. At this price point, many Casio watches often use resin cases, but the MTP-1440DJ models come with a brass case finished in silver ion plating. This gives the watches a more premium feel than their low price might suggest. The bracelet also uses a one-push three-fold Nakadome clasp, a release-button style typically seen on more expensive metal-band Casio watches.
