Casio Unveils Limited-Edition Calculators Featuring Hokusai-Inspired Art

Casio is bringing Japanese art to the desktop with two new limited edition JF-M200-TJ calculators inspired by Katsushika Hokusai, the iconic Edo-period artist best known for his ukiyo-e prints. Following the brand’s earlier Hokusai-themed releases, these fresh designs turn a practical everyday tool into a collectible piece that stands out at home, at school, or in the office.

The two models are the Casio JF-M200-TJ-KHK and JF-M200-TJ-KHG, each drawing from a different celebrated artwork. The JF-M200-TJ-KHK takes its look from The Great Wave off Kanagawa, pairing a bold blue wave with a soft beige background. The JF-M200-TJ-KHG is inspired by Fine Wind, Clear Morning, featuring Mount Fuji in striking blue and orange tones. Casio didn’t just add a graphic overlay, either—both the casing and keycaps are inkjet printed, and the font style is chosen to complement the traditional ukiyo-e aesthetic.

Beyond the artwork, these are fully featured desk calculators designed for daily use. They include a slanted LCD for easier viewing, a 12-digit display, and 31 keys with functions geared toward real-world calculations. Users can handle tax calculations and time-related calculations, customize decimal and rounding settings, and rely on both grand total (GT) and independent memory functions for longer number sessions.

Casio also builds in efficiency: the calculators have an integrated solar panel that can help extend battery life, making them convenient for regular use without frequent power worries.

Release details are already set for Japan, where the Casio JF-M200-TJ-KHK and JF-M200-TJ-KHG will go on sale on January 22nd with a price of ¥5,500 (around $35) each. While the initial launch is Japan-focused, both models have appeared on Casio’s international website, strongly hinting at a wider global release later on. For fans of Casio desk calculators, Japanese art, or limited edition stationery-style tech, these Hokusai-inspired models look like they’ll be worth watching.
