BenQ has officially launched the LW830ST WXGA Laser Simulation Projector, a new compact short-throw model aimed squarely at business and professional spaces. It’s built for environments where floor projection is essential, making it a strong fit for interactive playgrounds, sensory rooms, training setups, and other immersive installations that need a bright, reliable image at close range.
At the heart of the BenQ LW830ST is a short-throw DLP design with a 0.521:1 throw ratio, allowing it to produce a very large picture without needing much distance from the surface. BenQ says it can project images as large as 300 inches, using a WXGA resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. For businesses and venues dealing with ambient light, brightness is often the deciding factor, and this projector is rated at up to 4,000 ANSI lumens.
The LW830ST uses a laser light source designed for long-term operation, with BenQ estimating up to 20,000 hours of use. Alongside that, it’s listed with a 3,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 93% coverage of the Rec. 709 color space, helping it deliver more accurate, consistent color for presentations, installations, and visual experiences. To make setup easier in real-world rooms, it includes image adjustment tools such as 2D keystone correction and corner fit. There are also multiple color modes to match different content needs, including sRGB, HDR10, and a Simulation mode.
One of the standout features for professional installs is support for multi-projector layouts and non-traditional mounting. BenQ positions the LW830ST as suitable for multi-projector setups, including 360° installations, thanks to its Blending Ready Mode, which helps align and blend images across multiple units for a more seamless result.
Connectivity is geared toward modern AV and IT environments. The projector includes two HDMI ports (2.0b with HDCP 2.2), a LAN (RJ45) port, two USB-A ports, and RS232 for control and integration. BenQ also notes that firmware updates can be delivered over the network via LAN, which can be a practical advantage for organizations managing multiple devices.
For audio, there’s a built-in 15W speaker, plus a 3.5 mm audio jack for external sound solutions. Despite its install-focused feature set, BenQ markets it as compact, with dimensions of 279 x 121 x 229 mm (about 11.0 x 4.8 x 9.0 inches), making it easier to place in tighter spaces or mount where larger projectors would be awkward.
Pricing and availability are already set. The BenQ LW830ST WXGA Laser Simulation Projector is available in the US for $1,599 through BenQ’s online store, and in the UK for £1,228.29 via retailers such as AV Parts Master.
