Beelink’s 80 Gbps mini PC dock debuts with dual M.2 bays and Mac mini support

Beelink has unveiled the Mate SE, a compact mini PC dock that blends high-speed connectivity with serious storage expansion. Launched in China, the Mate SE keeps the headline 80 Gbps USB-C performance but does so via Thunderbolt 5 rather than the newer USB4 2.0 spec. That makes it a strong fit for Apple’s Mac mini as well as Windows and Linux mini PCs with USB4 or Thunderbolt 3/4.

Key ports and expansion
– 1x Thunderbolt 5 USB-C (80 Gbps)
– 1x USB-C power-in (PD only)
– 2x USB 3.0 Type-A
– 1x 2.5G Ethernet (LAN)
– 1x SD 4.0 card reader

Storage is a standout. Inside, the Mate SE houses two M.2 2280 NVMe slots supporting PCIe 4.0 x2 drives. Each slot can take up to an 8 TB SSD, enabling as much as 16 TB of fast external storage—ideal for creators, editors, and anyone building a compact workstation.

Power and portability
The dock can run bus-powered with up to 15 W available for connected devices. For setups that demand more power, plug in a 45 W or higher USB-C PD adapter via the PD In port.

What’s new versus the earlier model
– Adds an SD 4.0 card reader for faster media offloads
– Drops the 3.5 mm audio jack
– Appears to launch as a single configuration rather than multiple variants

Compatibility
– Thunderbolt 5 host devices, including Mac mini
– USB4 and Thunderbolt 3/4 ports on many mini PCs and laptops

Pricing and availability
The Mate SE is priced at CNY 985 in China, roughly $138. Global availability and pricing have not yet been announced, but wider rollout is expected.

Why it matters
If you’re building a small-footprint desktop or creative workstation, the Beelink Mate SE combines next-gen 80 Gbps connectivity, 2.5G Ethernet, a fast SD 4.0 slot, and dual PCIe 4.0 NVMe bays in a single, travel-friendly dock. It’s a compelling way to add high-speed I/O and up to 16 TB of external SSD storage to a Mac mini, a USB4 laptop, or a modern mini PC.
