The Beelink SER9 has just hit the market, boasting a powerful AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage, priced at $999. This mini PC is among the first to feature AMD’s Strix Point technology, following the recent rollout of Strix Point laptops.
This price point positions the SER9 significantly higher than Beelink’s previous high-end models. For instance, the Beelink SER8, equipped with the Ryzen 7 8845HS, another top-end processor from the Hawk Point lineup, is available for $649. Despite offering the same memory and storage capacity, the SER9’s new Strix Point processor drives up the cost.
The increased price tag isn’t unexpected. Industry insiders have pointed out that AMD is selling Strix Point processors at double the cost of Hawk Point chips, leading to higher prices for devices incorporating the new technology. This naturally makes mini PCs and laptops with Strix Point technology more expensive to produce and purchase.
Interestingly, a recent announcement from AOOSTAR set the Chinese pre-order price for the GEM10 370, which also features the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor, at a similar high price point. However, there are some notable differences. The GEM10 370 includes an OCuLink port, which is a better option for eGPU setups compared to the USB4 port found on the SER9.
If AOOSTAR releases their GEM10 370 at the same price as the SER9 globally, it might offer better value for those specifically looking for enhanced external graphics support. Comparatively, barebone Phoenix Point GEM10 models are already listed at $399 on major online retailers, making them an intriguing alternative for tech enthusiasts.
