Bad News Hits Fans Awaiting Sony’s Xperia 5 VI Release

The Xperia 5 V, introduced a year ago, might be the final addition to Sony’s compact flagship lineup for a considerable time. Although traditionally, Sony has unveiled a fresh Xperia 5 model every September since 2019, except for the Xperia 5 III, this year brings different news.

Last year, the Xperia 5 V hit the market and quickly became a popular choice. Many expected Sony to follow suit with a new model, driven by whispers and even hints like a Spigen case designed for the anticipated Xperia 5 VI appearing on a European retailer’s website. However, new reports from Japanese media suggest no such plan is in motion for this year.

Apparently, Sony has decided to keep the Xperia 5 V available until at least the beginning of their next fiscal year. This shift in strategy might be attributed to changing consumer preferences and the growing popularity of its larger sibling, the Xperia 1 VI.

It’s important to note that this doesn’t necessarily signal the end for the Xperia 5 series. Sony might be realigning their release schedules, possibly harmonizing the launches of the Xperia 1, Xperia 5, and Xperia 10 lines by spring of 2025.

For now, if you’re a fan of the Xperia 5, the current model remains a solid choice, holding its ground in Sony’s product lineup with its impressive features and reputation.
