Audi has just unveiled its 2025 Q6 e-tron lineup, and the pricing and specifications paint a clear picture of the challenges the brand faces in the electric vehicle market. So significant are these challenges that Audi is shutting down its e-tron factory in Brussels.
In the United States, the base model of the Q6 e-tron starts at a hefty $63,800. For this price, buyers get a rear-wheel-drive Q6 e-tron with a 100 kWh battery that promises an EPA-estimated range of 321 miles. For context, the Tesla Model Y Long Range offers a comparable 320 miles of range but comes with a lower price tag of $37,490 after the federal tax credit. This cost can be reduced further to $31,490 with Tesla’s anticipated “gas savings” or various state incentives.
The top-tier SQ6 e-tron model is priced at $79,300, delivering 509 horsepower and 275 miles of range. In contrast, the Tesla Model Y Performance closely matches these specs but is far more affordable at $43,990 after the tax credit.
It’s worth noting that the 2025 Q6 e-tron does pack some high-end features that the Model Y currently lacks. For instance, it boasts an 800V powertrain, which allows for 20-minute charging. However, the upcoming Tesla Model Y Juniper refresh is likely to close this gap.
Audi offers a complicated array of configurations for its RWD, AWD, and performance SQ6 e-tron models, available in Premium, Premium Plus, or Prestige trims. Built on Audi’s new Premium Platform Electric and E3 1.2 electronic architecture, the Q6 e-tron features a 5-link independent suspension and a towing capacity of up to 4,400 pounds.
One area where the Audi Q6 e-tron distinctly outshines the Model Y is its interior. The vehicle comes standard with a second-generation high-resolution HUD that boasts up to 13,500 nits of brightness. Additionally, it features an innovative dynamic interaction light that communicates various information to passengers, including navigation cues, hazard warnings, and charging status, all through 84 LED elements.
Audi plans to begin delivering its 2025 Q6 e-tron series to various US dealerships by the end of the year, making this an eagerly anticipated entry into the electric vehicle market.
