Performance is a headline feature. The range-topping dual-motor E5 Sportback delivers 776 hp and sprints from 0 to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds. Entry models are no slouch either, with a 295-hp setup aimed at daily driving efficiency. Audi has even given the production car a small power bump over the concept, underscoring its performance focus.
Value is another big draw. The base E5 Sportback starts at around $33,000 and offers up to 385 miles of CLTC-rated range from a 75 kWh battery. The flagship variant steps up to a 100 kWh pack and stretches that figure to 402 miles, with pricing from about $45,000. Those numbers position the E5 as a compelling long-range electric wagon at an aggressive price point.
Inside, the E5 embraces a design language aligned with Chinese preferences. A panoramic 59-inch-wide display spans the dashboard, flanked by digital side mirrors for a high-tech cockpit feel. Premium touches include Alcantara trim and wireless smartphone charging, blending luxury with modern usability. A revised Audi emblem further distinguishes this EV from the brand’s Western-market lineup.
The E5 Sportback was co-developed with SAIC and will be produced at a SAIC-Volkswagen facility in Shanghai, emphasizing Audi’s commitment to local collaboration and localized engineering for China’s EV landscape.
