Attack Shark R5 Turbo Gaming Mouse Debuts With 8K Polling, 43g Build, and Carbon-Fiber Design
Attack Shark has introduced the R5 Turbo, a new ultra-lightweight wireless gaming mouse built for players who want speed, precision, and a distinctive design. Set to launch on October 23, the R5 Turbo improves on the company’s previous R5 Ultra model with upgraded internals, a carbon-fiber composite shell, and a fresh Dune color option alongside classic black and white finishes.
Designed with competitive gaming in mind, the Attack Shark R5 Turbo weighs around 43 grams, with a small variation of about 3 grams. Its injection-molded carbon-fiber composite body helps keep the mouse light while maintaining durability. The ventilated shell design also gives it a performance-focused look, while a cool-touch coating is used to reduce stickiness during long gaming sessions.
At the heart of the R5 Turbo is the PixArt PAW3950MAX optical sensor, offering up to 60,000 DPI, 750 IPS tracking speed, and 60G acceleration. These specifications make the mouse suitable for fast-paced esports titles where quick flicks, accurate tracking, and consistent control matter. Players can also adjust the lift-off distance across three levels, allowing the mouse to stop tracking at their preferred height when lifted from the mousepad.
One of the biggest highlights is the 8,000 Hz polling rate, supported in both wired and wireless modes. This means the R5 Turbo can report its position to a PC up to 8,000 times per second, delivering smoother cursor movement and faster response compared to standard 1,000 Hz gaming mice. The mouse uses a Nordic nRF54LM20 controller, and Attack Shark claims wireless click latency can reach as low as 0.168 milliseconds based on internal testing.
The R5 Turbo offers multiple connectivity options, including USB, 2.4 GHz wireless, and Bluetooth. This makes it flexible enough for competitive desktop gaming, casual use, or pairing with laptops and portable setups. It also comes equipped with Omron optical switches rated for more than 100 million clicks, along with TTC scroll-wheel encoders for reliable scrolling performance.
Battery life is another key selling point. The built-in 290 mAh battery is rated for up to 300 hours of use, though that figure applies when using a 1,000 Hz polling rate. Using the maximum 8,000 Hz mode will likely reduce battery life, as higher polling rates demand more power.
Attack Shark is also giving the R5 Turbo a bit of personality with its shark-fin-shaped wireless receiver and the new sand-inspired Dune finish. The color option gives the mouse a more unique look compared to standard gaming peripherals, making it appealing to players who want performance hardware with a standout style.
The Attack Shark R5 Turbo will be available starting October 23 in black, white, and Dune color options. Pricing has not yet been announced, but with its 43g lightweight design, 8K polling support, high-end optical sensor, and long battery life, it could be an attractive option for gamers looking for a fast and modern wireless gaming mouse.
