Asus Unveils Slim, Budget-Friendly 100W Fast Charger

Asus a-bean 100W GaN Charger Debuts With Four Ports and Budget-Friendly Pricing

Asus has introduced a new compact charging accessory in China called the a-bean 100W charger. Designed for users who carry multiple devices, this affordable GaN power adapter combines high-speed charging, a slim body, and a practical four-port layout at a launch price of CNY 179, which is roughly $27.

The Asus a-bean 100W charger features three USB-C ports and one USB-A port, making it suitable for charging laptops, tablets, smartphones, wireless earbuds, gaming handhelds, and other everyday electronics. Its compact design also makes it a convenient option for travel, office use, or anyone trying to reduce the number of chargers in their bag.

Among the three USB-C ports, the C1 and C2 ports support up to 100W fast charging when used individually. This makes them powerful enough for many USB-C laptops, tablets, and high-performance mobile devices. The third USB-C port, C3, supports up to 20W output, while the USB-A port can deliver up to 22.5W.

When all four ports are being used at the same time, the charger automatically distributes power across connected devices. In this setup, the C1 port can provide up to 45W, the C2 port can deliver up to 30W, and the C3 plus USB-A ports share a combined 20W output. This power distribution should be enough for charging a laptop, phone, smartwatch, and earbuds together, depending on the power needs of each device.

Asus has equipped the a-bean 100W charger with support for several popular fast-charging protocols, including PD, QC, SCP, and PPS. This broad compatibility makes it a flexible option for users with devices from different brands. Whether you are charging an Android phone, a USB-C tablet, a compact notebook, or a handheld gaming console, the charger is built to adjust output based on the connected device.

The use of GaN technology is another key highlight. GaN chargers are known for being smaller and more efficient than traditional silicon-based adapters. They typically generate less heat while offering higher power output in a more portable form factor. For users who want one charger that can handle multiple devices without taking up much space, the Asus a-bean 100W could be a practical choice.

While 100W charging is strong enough for many laptops and portable devices, users with high-powered gaming laptops may still need a more powerful adapter. However, for gaming handhelds, smartphones, tablets, ultrabooks, and accessories, the Asus a-bean 100W charger should offer more than enough performance.

Asus also emphasizes safety with this charger. The a-bean 100W includes protection against overheating, over-current, and short circuits. These built-in safety features are important for a multi-port charger, especially when several devices are connected at once.

The charger comes in three color options, all featuring a clean and minimalist design. This gives users a bit of choice while keeping the overall look simple and modern.

For now, Asus has only launched the a-bean 100W charger in China, and there is no confirmed information about a wider global release. If it does arrive in more markets, its low price, four-port setup, 100W USB-C charging, and compact GaN design could make it a strong competitor in the affordable fast charger category.
