Asus Unveils Fresh AMD Laptop: A Reimagined Zenbook S16 with a Brighter OLED Screen

Asus is expanding its 2026 lineup in China, and one of the most eye-catching additions is the Zenbook 16 Air 2026. At first glance, it’s clearly built on the same blueprint as the Zenbook S16 shown at CES 2026, but there’s a key upgrade that helps this new model stand out: the display.

Inside, the Zenbook 16 Air 2026 runs on AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 H 465, a refreshed Strix Point Zen 5 APU featuring a 10-core CPU setup paired with Radeon 880M integrated graphics. That Radeon 880M iGPU is a big deal for a thin-and-light machine, giving the laptop enough graphical muscle to handle modern AAA games at 1080p in a smooth, playable way—without needing a dedicated graphics card. Compared to the Zenbook S16, which offers multiple CPU choices, the 16 Air 2026 keeps things more straightforward with this single highlighted configuration.

The biggest difference, though, is what you’ll be staring at all day. Asus equips the Zenbook 16 Air 2026 with a 16-inch OLED display that reaches up to 1,100 nits peak brightness, along with a 120Hz refresh rate and a sharp 2880 x 1800 resolution. That extra brightness bump over the S16’s 1,000-nit OLED panel may not sound huge on paper, but it can make a noticeable impact for HDR content, bright rooms, and overall punchier highlights.

As for portability, Asus keeps the same sleek formula. The laptop measures just 1.1 cm thin when closed and weighs around 1.5 kg, making it an easy fit for commuters, students, and frequent travelers. Despite the slim profile, it still includes an 83Wh battery—an encouraging capacity for anyone who wants strong battery life in a lightweight 16-inch laptop.

Connectivity is also solid for this class, giving users a practical mix of modern and everyday ports. You get two USB4 ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, a 10Gbps USB Type-A port, an SD card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. That selection makes it easier to connect external displays, fast storage, accessories, and camera gear without immediately relying on adapters.

Other notable extras round out the premium experience, including WiFi 7 support, a large touchpad, Dolby Atmos speakers, and a 1080p webcam enhanced with 3D noise reduction for cleaner-looking video calls.

For memory and storage, Asus is offering the Zenbook 16 Air 2026 with 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. In China, it launches at CNY 9,999 (around $1,434). For now, there’s no confirmed word on a wider international release or whether this exact version will appear globally with the Ryzen AI 9 465H configuration.

With a brighter OLED screen, modern AMD Zen 5 performance, and a thin, travel-friendly design, the Asus Zenbook 16 Air 2026 looks positioned as a compelling premium 16-inch laptop for buyers who want productivity power, entertainment-ready visuals, and surprisingly capable integrated graphics in one lightweight package.
