ASUS ROG 20th Edition DDR5 Memory Hits 8800 MT/s on ROG Crosshair X870E APEX
ASUS has officially stepped into the DDR5 memory market under its Republic of Gamers branding, and its first showcase is aimed squarely at PC enthusiasts, overclockers, and high-performance AMD system builders.
The company recently introduced its first ROG DDR5 memory modules, known as the ROG 20th Edition series. These new memory kits combine a premium design with enthusiast-grade specifications, offering capacities of up to 48 GB and support for a special ROG Mode that allows users to switch between low-latency and high-speed memory profiles.
To demonstrate what the new modules can do, ASUS paired them with the ROG Crosshair X870E APEX motherboard, a high-end AM5 platform built for extreme tuning. The result was an impressive DDR5 overclock reaching 8800 MT/s, showing that ASUS is not entering the memory segment quietly.
The demonstration used two 24 GB ASUS ROG 20th Edition DDR5 memory modules. The modules carry the label ROGACN6000CL30-24GBROG20 and run at 6000 MT/s by default with tight timings. However, during the overclocking session, the memory was pushed far beyond its standard profile.
The test system was powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU and the ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E APEX motherboard. The board was running BIOS version 2301 with AGESA 1.3.0.1 firmware. This BIOS also introduces early AMD EXPO 1.2 support for ASUS 800-series motherboards, giving users more options for memory tuning and performance optimization.
With water cooling applied to the DDR5 modules, the ASUS ROG 20th Edition memory kit reached 8800 MT/s with CL34 timings. The modules operated at 1.62V and stayed below 20°C during the test, helping maintain stability at such a high frequency.
Stability was tested using RunMemtestPro, where the system achieved an average coverage of 114.50% over a 47-minute uptime. While this is a controlled overclocking demonstration rather than a typical daily-use configuration, it still highlights the potential of ASUS’s first ROG-branded DDR5 memory kit when paired with the right motherboard, CPU, cooling, and BIOS support.
The ROG Crosshair X870E APEX plays a major role in this result. ASUS designed the APEX series for serious memory overclocking, and the X870E version continues that focus for AMD’s latest AM5 platform. With support for Ryzen 9000-series processors, advanced power delivery, and optimized memory trace layouts, the board is clearly built for users who want to push DDR5 performance to the limit.
The launch of ASUS ROG DDR5 memory is also an important move for the company. ASUS is already one of the biggest names in gaming motherboards, graphics cards, laptops, monitors, cooling, and peripherals.
