Asus is growing its ROG Strix OLED gaming monitor family with two fresh 27-inch picks designed for competitive play and high-end image quality: the ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMS and the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMES. Both new monitors use Samsung’s 3rd-gen QD-OLED panel, bringing the popular 1440p sweet spot together with ultra-fast refresh rates aimed at esports and fast-paced shooters.
These two displays are built around the same core idea: smooth motion, quick reactions, and rich OLED visuals. Each model features a semi-glossy screen finish and a claimed 0.03ms response time, which should help reduce motion blur and improve clarity during rapid movement. Asus also includes its OLED Care Pro suite on both monitors. One of the standout additions is a proximity sensor that can detect when you step away and automatically dim the panel, helping lower the risk of burn-in over time.
Where the two monitors separate is in brightness, refresh rate, and connectivity.
The ROG Strix OLED XG27ACDMS is positioned as the more premium option. It pushes up to a 280Hz refresh rate and reaches a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. It also includes a USB-C port, although power delivery is limited to 15W. With the extra speed, brightness, and USB-C convenience, the XG27ACDMS lands at a higher price of $699.
For buyers who want QD-OLED performance at a lower cost, the ROG Strix OLED XG27AQDMES drops the refresh rate to 240Hz and is rated for 400 nits peak brightness. To hit its lower $599 price, Asus also omits USB-C on this model. It shares the same overall design language as its sibling, so the main differences are focused on performance and features rather than aesthetics.
Availability varies by region. In the US, Asus lists both monitors, though the XG27AQDMES is currently out of stock. In the UK, both models are available and listed at £449 for the XG27ACDMS and £369 for the XG27AQDMES.
For gamers choosing between the two, the decision is straightforward: if you want the brightest panel, the fastest 280Hz refresh rate, and USB-C for simpler setups, the XG27ACDMS is the better-equipped option. If you’re primarily after a 27-inch 1440p QD-OLED experience with a still-serious 240Hz refresh rate at a more affordable price, the XG27AQDMES offers a strong value-focused alternative.
