Asus ROG Strix XG259QNSR Ace Debuts With 420Hz Refresh Rate for Esports Gaming
Asus has introduced the ROG Strix XG259QNSR Ace, a new 24.5-inch gaming monitor designed for competitive esports players who value speed, responsiveness, and motion clarity above all else. Built around a Full HD Fast IPS panel, the monitor targets gamers who play fast-paced titles where split-second reactions can decide the outcome of a match.
The standout feature is its overclocked 420Hz refresh rate. This ultra-high refresh rate is aimed at competitive games such as Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, Apex Legends, and other reaction-heavy shooters where smoother motion and lower perceived latency can offer a real advantage. While many modern gaming displays focus on higher resolutions, Asus is clearly prioritizing performance and frame consistency with this model.
The ROG Strix XG259QNSR Ace uses a Fast IPS panel with a 1ms gray-to-gray response time, with response times reaching as low as 0.3ms in certain conditions. This helps reduce ghosting and improves clarity during rapid movement, making it easier to track enemies and react quickly during intense gameplay.
To further improve motion handling, Asus includes ELMB Sync, a technology designed to reduce motion blur while still working alongside adaptive refresh features. The monitor also supports NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility and AMD FreeSync Premium, helping minimize screen tearing and stuttering when frame rates fluctuate. Variable Overdrive 2.0 is also included, automatically adjusting pixel response behavior to match the current refresh rate.

The display is rated for 90% DCI-P3 and 115% sRGB color coverage, which should make colors appear vibrant for both gaming and general media use. It also carries VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, offering entry-level HDR support for compatible content.
Asus has also added several AI-assisted gaming features to help players gain better visibility in competitive scenarios. Dynamic Crosshair can adjust the crosshair based on what is happening on screen, while Dynamic Shadow Boost is designed to brighten darker areas without overexposing the entire image. AI Visual is also included to automatically optimize display settings depending on the type of content being shown.
For connectivity, the ROG Strix XG259QNSR Ace includes one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a two-port USB hub, and a headphone jack. Gamers who want to use the full 420Hz refresh rate will need to connect through DisplayPort 1.4.
The monitor will be available in both black and white versions, giving buyers more flexibility when matching it with their gaming setup.
