After navigating a costly venture that reportedly burned through a whopping $10 billion, Apple has decided to pull the plug. The primary reason cited was the financial impracticality of the project’s continuation. Consequently, the workforce dedicated to this endeavor has either been shifted to different roles within the company or laid off entirely, marking the end of an ambitious chapter in Apple’s history.
However, recent reports have shed light on a fascinating partnership that flew under the radar during ‘Project Titan’s’ development – the collaboration between Apple and Chinese automaker BYD. This relationship centered around designing a custom battery tailored for the self-driving vehicle. Although this alliance persisted for several years, the partnership eventually fizzled out, with Apple choosing to end the collaboration.
The discussions do not delve deeply into why Apple’s partnership with BYD did not fully blossom. Nonetheless, one can speculate that the collapse of ‘Project Titan’ itself may have played a substantial role.
